What's up with Dom Alvis?

Noticed earlier that he isn't on the 2 deep. And now everyone is saying that he is out. So what's his deal anyway?

Kirk says it'll probably bother him the rest of the year. Too bad for Dom, he has been snakebit in his career.

Yep, between groin, knee, and now back. Keeping Alvis healthy and on the field has been a challenge.

We can hope for ekakite to be the second coming of Adrian Clayborn. Hopefully we will have a chance to find out if he can start his career as "serviceable".

Faith seems to be very talented. He is fast and big. If he is developing well at the position he could play some very meaningful time. McMinn was injured too, I think he is coming back around also.

If he can't beat out the 8-man kid from Nowheresville, Ia, who's already been shuffled around between 3 different positions in his 1.5 years in the program, I'm gonna go ahead and say "No".

I'll go ahead and disagree. Ferentz hates playing underclassmen on d-line. Clayborn rode plenty of pine even when he looked solid. IIRC, both Clayborn and Ballard had great games against the Kitty Cats in 2007. Perhaps this is Faith's time to shine.

Faith E. also had a position change during the pre season. So he is still learning the defensive end position. The more time he has the better he will get. He has tge talent. Nate Meier is a tough kid who has had some of the most dominanting performances in Iowa high-school history. More than 500 rushing yards in a game for example. They will both be great players for Iowa.

Is it true that the hawks are shopping for DE's on the Juco market? thought I read that somewhere on line.

We were looking at a DL named Rodney Coe but we missed on him because he wanted to play for a program on the rise. Dude is a helluva athlete. His team would have lost by 80 points if it weren't for him keeping the differential down to 64. We just aren't a sexy enough program to bring those sorts of game changers in.

I also heard he's 300 pounds. Dang it.

He is NFL ready.

you're right. small school kids who change positions just can't make it at Iowa. except Dallas Clark, Chad Greenway, and others, of course.

also, you're still bad at trolling.

Redshirt fresh vs. senior so not really a valid point....per....usual.

Nice deflection, but the Hawks are in contact with several JUCO DE's. They know they need help there. Johnson and Cooper are playing. Ballard played young and so did Binns, King, Kroul, Bain, Kanellis and Roth. This "KF doesn't play young linemen" is complete BS!

He doesn't play guys who aren't ready. So, have Faith that Faith might develop, but don't count those chickens just yet.

Iowa currently has an offer out to exactly one JUCO DE. Torey Hendrick currently considers Iowa the leader for his services. Has a really nice offer list.

Many of the guys you mentioned played by necessity. If Ferentz has the luxury of having a mediocre senior to pencil in as a starter, that dude is playing over a redshirt frosh, no matter how good the frosh is. I still have nightmares about what happened to that d-line in C-bus back in ought five after Roth, Babs, Luebke, etc. graduated and we had 4 undersized underclassmen starting.
