Simple really, if you were one of those children, what would you do?
But wait, is it that simple?
Would you be embarrassed? Do you think it might embarrass your family? Then you have to tell someone, but who? What if after you told someone, the police hooked you up to a lie dectector and made you go over it and over it again and again, before they would even act on it? How about if your name, even as a minor was the only one made public even after others stepped forward? What if the DA made you go over it and over it, all the while telling you their lawyer would not care about how you feel and do everything they could to tear you down (like you wouldnt be torn down by this point). What if as a child you were the one who had to take the brunt of it all, including the whole community looking at you like your the one who tried to give the community a black eye? Would you trust authority figures after those things happened? How would that affect you in school? Would you stay in school? How about college? What about girlfriends and/or your wife, what kind of issues such as trust are you going to have there?
Sounds easy doenst it? Do the right thing. You can save others from it. Other children you dont know, or never will. Now ask yourself if you went thru all that, would you do it again? You know it's the right thing to do, but if you knew just how much it was going to cost you, would you go thru it again? Does it make you a bad person to question if you would, knowing full well other children would fall prey?
Who cares who is the next coach at PSU? Who cares if it affects their game with Nebby? Who cares what PSU's recruiting will be like now? Things have forever changed and most likely not for the good, in many childrens lives and it will be for their whole lives.
