I know what u encountered. I get that sometimes at espn and other sites. Usually a refresh brings things back in line

I dont know what fixed it but I posted a couple times and refreshed the page multiple times and it stayed the same. Gave it a few more minutes and refreshed again and it was back to normal. All is good now.
