Normally we go to Breslin Center, MSU thugs it up. Izzo spends the entire game grabbing the refs arm and pleading his case while his thug-ballers beat the crap out of us.

Iowa didn't allow that and for once, neither did the officials. Iowa played physically and didn't back down. The Izzone was taken out of the game from the very start.

If you want to read some very entertaining comments, check this out from a Spartan fan forum. They are in full meltdown mode for 2 hours. The comments are both delicious and entertaining. I love the one that complains, "Is there any team in the Big Ten that gets screwed at home by the refs more than us? (Michigan St)"
 
Typically what happens at Breslin is we start out slow, let the crowd get into it and we're down 10 points by the first tv timeout and the game is all but over.

When Valentine hit that first 3 right out of the chute, my first thought was, "oh no, here we go again". But to come back down and answer right away was huge and we just seemed to take off from there.

Wow, those fans are horrible. I did like the one guy who asked if they were playing the Warriors tho.
 
Didn't the NCAA make that part of the rule change to get more high-scoring games? Shorten the shot-clock and don't allow the overly-physical play that we've had in the past? Thought I read that somewhere...
 
Their fans are even worse than I thought. Did they spend as much time in prison as their football players did? The msu forums seriously need profanity filters and better moderation.

On the other hand it is sure nice to cause such distress to those losers. More msu losing please in all sports! I hope the women's team destroys them today too!
 
I have now just read and have seen every swear word known to man in that thread. I'm literally laughing and smiling at the same time. Whoo-we they are a pi$$ed off bunch of Spartans. I absolutely love it
 
That was awesome.

My favorite quote was "are we playing the Warriors."

Also one guy tried to claim Iowa was actually a better team and got crushed by everyone on the thread.
 
Our toughness was great, but what stood out to me is how much better we played defensively. Much better switching and pressure on the 3 point shooters. We didn't give them any room.
 
We thumped them at Carver, then curb stomped them at Breslin, and somehow some of them still manage to post that they "are still the better team."

Hilarious!

I got through about page 12 of that Sparty forum thread, and it was everything I had hoped it would be.
 
For those that don't want to read it all. here are some highlights. I tried to edit out the cursing. Hope that is okay. Maybe I'm weird, but probably my favorite part is them railing on their own student section for being fat :)

-Never seen worse defense. No communication just look like a YMCA team that got picked to play together 10 minutes ago.

-Letting these talentless pieces of s*** rebound against us is not good. Lucky three pointers are one thing, but we should be able to outmuscle these skinny little nobodies.

-I can't remember a beating like this in a while.

-What the f*** kinda of lineup is this? Do we want to lose by 50?

-Seriously, what the f*** is going on?! I haven't been this ****** watching MSU hoops in my life.

-I would bury a f****** hooker no questions asked for Izzo and take the life rap. I still am not OK with Wollenman and Bess on the floor together. Get Wollenman the f*** off the floor PERIOD.

-We get whistled every time we try to "make them uncomfortable" - meanwhile, they have three guys bodyslamming our PG to the court when he drives. F*** these talking heads, and f*** Iowa and their bulls*** style of streaky chickens*** basketball.

-Our students are gross looking

-I don't know, I think izzo takes a pretty big chunk of the blame. Our best players have been benched. Not gonna win many playing walk ons and practice squad players.

-Iowa getting away with hacking.

-Nice that Iowa getting all the calls ON THE ROAD.

-Looks like Izzone is all fat ppl in the front row

-Blown out by Iowa and they show that grotesquely fat f*** in the Izzone.Just a disaster tonight.
-What's more embarrassing the team or the fat ugly lazy izzone

-Team should wear plain black clothes at Wisconsin with numbers ducktaped on, because they sure as f*** aren't showing that they're deserving of wearing Spartan jerseys right now.

-This would be a bad pickup game by international student standards.

-They are legit. They were down big on the road @ Purdue and came back. McCaffery is impressive

-I had to come see the meltdown. This game (and the one two weeks ago) will be meaningless when we are cutting down nets in March.

-I expect these beatings from teams like the Dukes, UNC's, Kentuckys who are oozing with nba talent. Iowa???? F****** unacceptable

-Well that was fun. Have a rectal exam tomorrow, should be more pleasant.
