What recruit did we part ways with?

Yup, it's Jyaz Jones. His older brother was a redshirt WR on the Hawks last year. Not sure what happened as they were both quoted as being excited to play together. Jones has another official visit this weekend. Maybe the Hawks told him they don't want him going on any more visits. I'm only speculating. It's a Rivals story so far. Unfortunately I have Scout who won't have the story till this weekend….(Scout.com problems)

More speculation…..Maybe Jyaz didn't like to fact that Iowa recently flipped Safety Miles Taylor from GA Tech.

That would be my guess.

Then when Snyder accepted a preferred walk-on offer, Jyaz said "I'm out"…I kid, but I do wonder if that was the reason. Jyaz was Iowa's highest rated safety recruit. It's not like Iowa had a coaching change and his brother is here. If only there was an internet site you could subscribe to that had inside info on situations like this...

Would be interesting to know why he had a change of heart with Iowa. It doesn't make sense that his brother is still here on scholarship. He was offered a scholarship from Iowa & made a pledge. Nothing is binding until next Wednesday, but the timing is really bad for this to happen.

I thought Jyaz was going to be a wonderful addition for the Iowa program. I don't think the Taylor flip from GT & Snyder accepting a preferred walk-on offer had anything to do with his decision. Maybe I'm wrong. Jyaz knows deep down why the change of heart or maybe Iowa said something to him. This kind of sounds familiar with RB Berkley Edwards from 2013.

Edwards had a Iowa offer & Iowa decided to pull his offer. He ended up at Minnesota instead.

Recruiting needs to finish strong before next Wednesday.

I wonder who'll fill the scholarship that Jones left on the table. Any thoughts?

He's probably the reason that extra punter has a full ride now.

According to KF, I thought we would have been over signed. Originally I thought we had 20 spots. I have also seen 21 and 22 spots available?????? There could be room for one more, or one of our walk ons gets a ride, or maybe we needed to shed one recruit anyways.

I wonder who will fill his older brother's spot.

I was done with this thread, when this exact thought crossed my mind. Here I am wasting my time on HN again, and you already beat me to it. I assume his brother red shirted. If he transfers, they will both start playing the same year after jyaz red shirts. Time will tell.

Technically, the punter could have filled a vacant spot from the previous class..

Jyaz Jones has had 2 major injuries in his last 2 years of high school ball. That could be a factor here as well.

If he does end up at Iowa it won't be this year. Couldn't get a qualifying SAT score in before signing day so Iowa won't accept his LOI. Colorado State says they will so he'll likely end up there. Sounds like Levar Woods may of been persuading him to go to Iowa Western though.

Makes sense

From what I had seen on Jones he looked like one he'll of a athlete. Plus he had a good 40 time. I wish we could have held on to him for the pure fact that we need some speed on the team.
