What is the status of 2010 recruiting?

I've seen posts here indicating that Jon says we're not really recruiting Salter anymore, but haven't found them on the site yet. Is that the case?

And if we're not recruiting Salter anymore, are we done?

You have to trust the staff's judgment, but it makes me cringe to think of going through another season, even without a key injury, with what we have in the backcourt.

I thought Jon only said that Salter caught Iowa off guard with this trip to Hawaii and didn't know what to make of it now...not that they weren't recruiting him anymore? If they're not, I guess it's Ware's scholly to lose?

I received an email from someone that was at a recent I-Club even with a coach (this past week) and the Coach told them that they had moved on from Salter as well. They are looking at other options, but obviously time in running out

Crap! Bring in the Bird Man, Coco Ware...he may be a better fit with only 1 year of eligibility remaining anyway...if the Hawks want to contend for Paige.

Distressing news, indeed. We simply need to unearth a passable pg,backup at least, before Wednesday...time is growing short, and it will be tough to even be competitive in the league as thin as we currently are at guard, let alone if ,god forbid,Cully went down with injury.

I've read some reports elsewhere that Salter may have had it in his head that we didn't already have a pg and that job was his to have. Also, there was some reports from within the staff that he wouldn't good enough to beat Cully out. I still think we needed some depth to help Cully out, but it curbed my enthusiasm a little as I was thinking the #3 ranked juco kid could come in and be a game changer. I'm still excited as hell with what Fran has done already, and even more excited to see what his offense looks like.

It sounds as if Salter did not want to spend the summer in Iowa. That would not be a good way to impress his prospective new coach. So, on to other options.

While it would be preferable to sign someone by the 19th so the LOI would be binding, I'm not giving up if we don't. I just have to believe that with the connections these guys have, something will turn up before Fall.

Although Anthony's comments in the star bulletin report link seem favorable to his academic situation, the waters seem muddy from a standpoint of playing. Reading the article sounds like Hawaii has two seniors at the point and a true freshman. Im still guessing Salter looks long and hard at the Hawks. Take that for what its worth.

Just discovered this on the Star Bulletin:

Good luck with your lazy aw shucks attitude, Salt. Keep on playing your game. Hope you can still play on the court wherever you decide to go. Good luck with your grades. Hawaii sure seems like an easy as pie place to manufacture your studies
