What if Powell catches JR's pass?

I think CJ came in and did a great job of leading the offense, but think if Powell had caught the pass from Rudock instead of turning it into an interception, Iowa has a good chance of scoring on that drive and the complexion of the game in the first half is totally different. It also would have given Jake two deep receptions, which is the biggest criticism of him. I am also not trying to be negative toward Powell, but that could be a reason he has had limited playing time. That was a big negative play as was the muffed kickoff. Those might be things that happen a lot in practice.

What if Powell caught CJB's TD pass 2 weeks ago, which would have made the second half JR debacle last week all that more of a disaster.

Does it really matter, because Powell flat-out dropped that bad boy. Sadly I have a suspicion that JR is still KF guy, based on his comments immediately after the game.

In many ways, the difference in the two QBs' day is that Rudock's ball turned into a pick, while CJB's ball became a one-handed catch.

I'm still pulling for CJB to win the job.

I won't argue that both were catchable balls to Powell but the main difference I see is a bit more air under CJ's deep throws which allows guys to run under while Jake ' s tend to be a lower trajectory.

Not so much -- JR threw short-armed the ball into the ground a couple of times, and was 5/10; JR's long pass of 40 was 20 yards less than CJB's long pass and less accurate. Also, CJB was very nearly perfect at 7/8. Now, JR threw a TD, which CJB did not manage to do. Also, CJB was 12.3 YPA, and JR was 8.0 YPA.

This. Rudock's pass wasn't as good as some seem to think. Powell had to reach for it. Yes, it was catchable, but it would have been a great catch.

Pretty sure Powell had to reach for CJ's pass too, which is why caught one handed. Pass from Rudock should have been caught.

I wonder if Powell is still used to being under thrown by JR? Clearly he was the fastest player on the field today. With CJB at QB, Powell just let's it fly. Great to see the #2s who practice together play together. MVB should get some credit for making a tough catch as well. Makes sense when you think about it. He get's more reps w/ JR and knows what to expect.

I think if my Aunt had a pair of nads she'd be my uncle.

Sometimes we say things that make us look like fools. This has happened in the case with your post. You see "nads" is short for gonads. Gonads come in pairs. In women the gonads are called ovaries. In men gonads are called testicles. Do you see it now? Your post makes you look like a very stupid fool. Congrats!

Thumbs Up! CJ's deep passes look like Stanzi's in terms of hang time and touch. Jake's don't look nearly as good. CJ's pass against Ball State that was ruled incomplete was an NFL caliber pass in a spot where only his guy could get it, Jake's long passes are what I would expect to see out of a MAC level backup.

Sometimes some QB's just have the" it" factor, they make plays and plays are made for them. Not everything can be explained. CJ has it and JR does not.
