1) win, obviously.

2) 375+ yards of offense (24 or more points)
a) finish drives, no drive killing penalties inside the 25 yardline - minimum of FG (see #3/#4 below)
b) 100% FG from 35 yards or less
c) 5-6 plays of 15+ yards
d) Ruddock passes for 200+ (6-7 receivers/te's/rb's with catches)
e) 4 RB's with 6 plus carries (Weisman with 20-25 carries)
f) 2 or fewer sacks given up in the pocket
g) 3 or fewer running plays that are for negative yardage (no including sacks - see item f above)

3) 2 or fewer pre snap penalties (this has to get cleaned up)

4) 7 or less overall penalties - mostly "effort/hustle penalties" for lack of a better term
a) 3 or few Oline Holding penalties

5) 1 or less turnovers (no picks would be nice)

6) 2 or fewer dropped passes (if on target and hits both hands - not including defense breakups)

7) Defense yielding less than 300 yards of offense (17 or less points)

8) 2 or fewer Big plays given up (30+ yards) + no Long Touchdowns given p

9) QB runs less than 60 yards

10) 3 or fewer 3rd down conversions yielded if more than 7 yards

Bonus: if we get to see more depth chart, it's a bonus. I was quite please with how many new players I saw last week, it was significant. Although I am not in the camp that thinks we need to see another qb, I would love it if we got to a position in the next couple weeks that we could see 2-3 series with another.

I am sure I am missing a few but I think these are reasonable expectations. We are still going to see some mistakes in playmaking and execution. It goes without saying I don't want to see any Clock Management gaffes, late playcalls sent in, and overly conservative strategy).

These next 2-4 weeks are all winnable games and are absolutely critical if Any chance for a 6+ win season. If we lose either of the next two, the chance of post season (as well as the confidence of still a young team) will be damaged badly.

Go Hawks.

Just a win, but it ain't happening.

Pretty much this I just want a W.......strip away the rivalry and the super bowl nonsense if Iowa loses it is a loss to a 3-9 football team.....which is a bigger indictment on the Iowa program.

I would like to see

1) A blowout in which we do not hear from our little sister till next year

2) 475+ yards of offense (44 or more points)
a) finish drives, no drive killing penalties inside the 35 yardline - minimum of FG (see #3/#4 below)
b) 110% FG from 35 yards or less
c) 7-8 plays of 15+ yards
d) Ruddock passes for 300+ (15 receivers/te's/rb's with catches)
e) 6 RB's with 6 plus carries (Weisman with 30-35 carries)
f) No sacks given up in the pocket
g) No running plays that are for negative yardage (no including sacks - see item f above)

3) No pre snap penalties (this has to get cleaned up)

8) No Big plays given up (30+ yards) + no Long Touchdowns given p

9) QB runs less than 6 yards

10) 2 or fewer 3rd down conversions yielded if more than 3 yards

11) 0 scoring drives that take less than 10 mins off the clock in the 2nd half. We need to slow this game down.

I completely agree on just a win, I would forgoe ALL of the other items if it happens. I guess another way to look at it is: Because of our small margin for error, we Need most of the items to happen to win, most games.

The superbowl thing is no longer applicable, even if there is truth to it in some instances. Like it or not, and for whatever reason, this has become a rivalry in the last decade or so.

This is better, no doubt. Change all of mine to this.

What is truely amusing, while I understand OOTH is tongue in cheek here, it that there is a % of Hawk fans that deem this to be what we should be doing Every year to isu.

My list:

Offense:
1) Minimize/eliminate dropped passes. If this means Shumpert rides pine, or Powell only gets reverses/end-arounds/jet-sweeps, so be it.

2) If it's 3rd and less than 3 on our D side of the field, run the damn ball, or, play-action pass/waggle/etc. No sense throwing deep. Do it inside the 50, maybe once in a while, but don't make it our new default.

3) Much as I love Weisman, let's see more of Canzeri and Daniels. We know what we have in Weisman and Bullock.

4) On that note, more Weisman at FB (like 5 to 6 plays a game), and mix it up from there. Give him a carry or two at FB, run some play-action, or let the RB tote it. Again, mix it up GD!

5) Let Beathard and/or Sokol get a series or two. If we really ARE running more plays, it stands to reason we need backups with as much PT as possible should there be a need.

Defense:
1) Pressure from the front 4

2) Two-plus takeaways

3) No deep passes given up, especially for TDs

4) Make their RBs afterthoughts

5) No giving up 3rd-and-long or 4th-down conversions.

Special Teams:
1) No missed placekicks, the codicil being, no need to kick FGs.

2) More consistent returns, both kickoff and punts. And maybe put Powell back on kickoff returns so they "have" to be aware of him.

3) No giving up long returns.

4) No stupid penalties to negate a good return or keep an ISU drive alive.

5) The Captain Obvious Post Item of the Week, do NOT give up a fake punt or FG!

What we would like to see is............anything.
Sincerely, Ronnie Milsap and Stevie Wonder.

I think we go well north of 400 yards this game. The outcome will be decided on whether or not we turn it over or stall at the 10 yard line.

Walker, good post. You're a lot more generous or tolerent than am I regarding these items below:

3) 2 or fewer pre snap penalties (this has to get cleaned up) Gime zero

4) 7 or less overall penalties - mostly "effort/hustle penalties" for lack of a better term Gime 3
a) 3 or few Oline Holding penalties Gime zero

5) 1 or less turnovers (no picks would be nice) Gime zero

6) 2 or fewer dropped passes (if on target and hits both hands - not including defense breakups) Gime zero

I'll add a few of my own.

A team that shows emotion out there.

A team that shows they can bear down and win in the 4th quarter

Jake having a bit of touch on midrange passes

Bullock staying on his feet when touched.

A D-Line that can pressure the passer

DB's who keep it in front of them

A RB who can get to the second level, then make a move and be GONE !

Why wouldn't you expect that when you have superior talent?

fair question. answer:
1) past historical data
2) nothing to really prove we even Do have superior talent
3) superior talent very rarely is the only equation in a rivaly game
4) even if we did have this "superior" talent - the extremity of the items in question are that of a potential high powered, championship football team.
5) in a nutshell - facts and realistic views halt me from expecting utter domination of said intrastate rival.

That Said, a big win would be great.

Walker, you've got to be a little careful here. It's somewhat of a loaded question. Do you really want to concede or argue Iowa hasn't always had better talent than ISU? If so, then you bring on a whole different set of issues.

I'm with you on the holding penalties. Typically when you see lots of holding penalties it's because the O-line is overmatched.

What I would like to see this weekend and what I am going to see this weekend are probably two different things.

Like to see:
Fine tuning of the running game. Coaches give players who preformed better in last week's game more touches this week.
Fine tuning of the passing game. Ditto
Smart QB play late in the 2nd half
No motion penalties on the OL.
No missed kicks
Penetration by the DL so LBs can drop into coverage as needed
Do not allow clones to score TDs in the redzone
No over the top scoring by the clones, especially on 3rd and long
No special teams gaffes like not seeing the fake punt coming, loosing on-side kicks, or allowing returns to go for TDs.

Going to see:
Crazy blitzing by clones on obvious passing downs. JR's quick release and tall TEs probably mitigate this but his inexperience and lack of "pocket presence" may lead to him getting banged up.
Big plays over the top by clone WRs. Clones will be the most dangerous near mid field where blown coverage can lead to TDs. I'll feel more comfortable w/ them in either redzone.
Coaches playing WRs who can't catch well thrown passes.
Senior OL flinching during the crazy noise in Jack Trice.
Blown kick coverage that leads to big gains or worse....

I really think the Hawks win an ugly one that provides fodder for another week on this forum.
