What has happened to Wake Forest?

Wasn't this team ranked #1 just two years ago? How did they fall so far, so fast that they are considered one of the worst power conference teams in the country. I haven't been paying too much attention to Wake, so does anyone have a story as to why they are so bad?

A lot of turnover and they haven't been able to recruit the guys they need to keep it going. Also that year they were #1 they kind of fell off the map after a while and ended up being a non-factor in ACC and NCAA that year.

I don't know exactly what happened. A few years ago their coach passed away and the Assistant coach took over. They made it to the second round of the NCAA tourney last year (beating Texas) and then he was fired.

They only return one starter but have drastically out recruited Iowa so are easily more talented. I haven't seen them play but suspect they could end up being decent they just did need to gel w/new players and coach.

They start a 1-5*, 3-4*'s and 1-3* recruits. Not exactly bad recruiting

Ty Walker is the 5 star. He came in 2008 with Tony Woods and Al-Farouq Aminu (all 3 where 5* players). Woods transfered to Louisville and Aminu is now playing in the NBA.

Jim Grobe is the HC at Wake and he's been there since 2001. Not sure which team you were talking about but nobody has died yet. Not sure what turnover you were talking about either because only one or two players has left their program in the last few years. They simply aren't playing up to their ability and their guards aren't that good.

Jim Grobe is the football coach. The coach that died suddenly right before the season was Skip Prosser and Dino Gaudio was the assistant that they made the head coach and Iowa played Wake in the Big Ten/ACC challenge that year in IC.

Haha Jim Grobe is their football coach! Wow!

Their head coach died a couple years ago and the assistant took over. He recruited well but they underacheived. They fired him and hired Jeff Bzdelik from Colorado. Jeff hadn't done anything at Colorado but is well thought of

Dino Guardino was a very good recruiter and it remains a mystery why he was shown the door. Wake is a talented, but young team.
Iowa will need to rebound well and shoot the rock better than they have been to have a chance.
