What has been the signature moment this fall?

Chuck Long bootleg....Marv Cook catch to beat osu....Dallas Clark hurling td run....rob Houghton fg to beat michigan.....what is this year's signature moment thus far? Or, what moment gives this group identity?

For now for me...king 88 yd int return vs. Maryland or cjb leaping td before half at Indiana. Koehn pitt dagger of a FG at 3....just can't give him the signature moment for now

I would say CJ not getting caught for a safety in Ames and on the next play scrambling for about 50 yards. I think the hawks were tied or behind at that point and the hawks i believe got a score but at least changed field position to go on to victory. A safety there or punting from their own endzone and that could have been a loss. Instead CJ seemed to take over that game.

I was going to say the same thing. CJs scramble(s) against iowa state.

Koehn FG against pitt 2nd

That play against isu where one of our guys was running for a td and fumbled at the 4 yard line and the other iowa guy took it in for the td a close third.

It's those plays that make the season special like this one or awful like 2014

I don't think it has happened yet.

How about a 70 yard CJ to Tevaun Smith TD in the final minutes of the B1G championship game for the win?

I can buy the isu cjb scramble....just maybe not on par with Long's play to remember an entire season for me :)

The title of the thread is signature moment this fall, as in this year, not in 1985? Heck there are tons of great plays to pick from, I think it was 1983 when Long to a leaping Ronnie Harmon along the sideline to go all the way against Penn St at their place was huge.

CJ's naked bootleg on Saturday. That's the first time I thought, "Son of a...we are going to win out, aren't we?"

The fact that I had a "craft" beer instead of my regular old Busch Light, it was amazing.......For me it's the "New Kirk".....who the f*ck is this guy that we all see roaming the sidelines

Nate Meier blowing up Wisky center to force fumble on 1 yd line, recovered by Faith. Oh and the previous play where the Hawks gang tackled Wisky RB to keep him short of goal .

Some of those roll out passes and scramble by CJB, especially throwing across his body. One to TS for TD vs ISU was amazing.

3 and a mile vs Maryland I think to J-Smith (his first as starter) for first down.

3rd and 10 vs IU throw across his body to Vande for 11.

The Long reference was exactly that...referring to a specific play from years past to compare to a play from this year....it was just an example. What play from this year is that kind of remember the season play so far? THE YouTube highlight thus far.

For me it has to be a 1a and 1b. 1a is Beathard scramble for 40+ yards against ISU. 1b is Beathard hitting Vandeberg for 40+ yards from deep in our own territory in the same game. First moment I knew we had a truly great quarterback.

Good question and OP. Lots of good candidates so far, couple in the isu game for sure (Casey junior scrambles, vandenberg fumble recovery), wisky stop/fumble, Pitt game winner, Casey junior leap in Bloomington, all good. But....like a previous poster alluded to, maybe it is ahead of us. Maybe the best is yet to come.

I'm probably too focused on this season. Hoping for the best outcome to decide which was the best moment this season, but I'd have to say CJ coming to play, effectively, each game day Saturday after his injury is my signature moment for this team. Heck, every player played with guts. Every player played as one team.

I can't discount the change in Iowa football, either. KF has changed for the better.

When Greenwood led the team onto the field.

Defined who we are as a team, program and fan base.
