While the Big 6 move to the Pac Ten seemed a slam dunk a few days ago, the USC situation, supposed interest in Big Ten for Texas, tension betwen Texas and TAMU, with TAMU wanting to go SEC, has thrown some doubt into this move. What do you think the Big Five do now?

I hadn't given serious thought of Kansas to the Pac Ten, but it makes ever more sense if A & M wanted to go to the SEC, which rumors indicate they are. You have four contiguous states, Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas with six teams from the old Big 12 that form the P10 East along with the Arizona schools. I think Kansas has become more attractive after this past week.

Jim Delaney strongly stated no more Big Ten expansion for a minimum of 12 months. I believe we have already seen that the Big East is being proactive. They will do something after this coming Tuesday depending on the outcome of events. If one or more of your arrangements occur, the Big East is certainly going to go after Kansas (should they not go to P10) and Missouri and possibly Kansas State and Iowa State. The only reason I say possibly is that I do not think the Big Ten wants more than one Big East school and may not take any. Getting Missouri and Kansas would greatly enhance the Big East for football and still keep the BBall league at 18 rather than 20.

For the Big Ten there are ACC Universities that offer a lot of benefits over the Big East schools mention under expansion. Much will depend on Notre Dame. I think ND is waiting to see what transpires with the Pac Ten, SEC, Big East, ACC and the seeming demise of the Big 12. Delaney putting the brakes on will allow Notre Dame to get the picture and the impact of remaining independent.

Big 12 stays intact with CO and NE as the only defectors. Texas gets its own network and has even more power over the new Big 12.

12 months. Nebby doesn't join for 13 months, July '11. I would bet the search and bids continue with ferver by the Big10.

Delany also said he would do this in stages.

IMHO, the activity for Delany, et al, does not slow down now, but actually picks up. I believe now Delany goes after a Big East and an ACC team(s), just to eliminate and disrupt his conference competition for ND, especially the Big East which has ND's minor sports. He will reak havic with the football side of those conferences so ND wants nothing to do with them. When the Big 10 is done at 15, watch ND come scratching and begging to get in the Big10. Hell, even Lou Holtz finally said it is time for ND to join a conference, the Big10, and that is a first. If ND doesn't join, their scheduling will be crappola.

Just some thoughts to digest.
