What happened?

Earlier this year, the team believed they were a team that kept attacking. To an observer, it looked like they were a tight, well balanced team. What has changed? I have always been a believer and optimistic about the Hawkeyes, but after that debacle of a loss yesterday, no. It feels like the 4-8 season, when it seemed the coaching decisions were not giving the team a chance to win. The only other time I was upset enough to make a comment. Same now, sad for the players and the fans.

I honestly think there is a problem in the locker room. Players are not getting along, coaches not getting along with the players, etc. When the realistic chance to play for the BTT went out the window at Purdue, they folded up the tent yesterday.

Locker room rumors might have some weight to them.

Keegan Render was quoted as saying it's tough to win when some guys don't show up to play or give their all.

Maybe Fant is more connected to his family's thoughts than we realized?

What happened? This team never was any good. We played UNI, Minnesota, Maryland, and Indiana. Shit teams, and people got their hopes up. Anyone with a brain knew we weren't any good. Even the teams that beat us aren't any good compared to what they usually are, and we can't beat them.

When Minnesota, Maryland, and Indiana are the only teams you beat in conference play, guess what???

YOU WERE NEVER VERY GOOD TO BEGIN WITH. There shouldn’t be any surprise here, folks. They’ve never proven themselves (other than prove they don’t have what it takes).

—Special teams sucks and has played a huge part in losing games. The stuff that’s happened isn’t talent-related, it’s mental errors that should have been coached out of them.

—Freshman DBs can’t hang (not their fault, that’s a recruiting fail).

—Quarterback stinks it up repeatedly by not seeing (or ignoring) wide open receivers, and throws complete air balls when he does find an open one.

—Offensive line is wet paper bag soft.

—Brian has either reverted back to Greg Davis’ playbook or been told to do so by his dad.

—Kirk plays favorites with the lineup rather than playing the best players.

Tell me with a straight face two things...

1) How any of you think a team can win ballgames with that laundry list of problems...

and...

2) How any of you think that by beating 3 losing record, suck ass teams Iowa is somehow a contender with a chance at the west?

This is Iowa. It’s what we do. There’s really no good reason to get excited in the spring and summer because we know that eventually the house is gonna fall apart and start on fire.

Like I said earlier this year, 6-6.

In the 3 losses, the offense has scored an average of 17.3 points (6, 36, 10). The defense has given up an average of 27.3 points (30, 38, 14). Hard to win when you need to rely on your special teams and defense to make up 10 points a game.
