Western Illinois vs Iowa Game Thread

Unless we lose to Drake or some other crappy team, our non conference resume will be better than last year's.

Just got home from work and watched it. Great start to the game and kept it rolling. Carver was a morgue. I don't understand this. Hangover from Saturday? It was a "trap" scenario and Iowa didn't fall for it. On to Hilton!

It was a solid effort in dominating a team that beat Wiscy. Uthoff eliminated any hope for Western Illinois right away. Caught most of the iSu/Buffalo game as well. Clones were caught trying to coast until late 4th quarter when Niang started going off. Buffalo kept it close most of the game. Buffalo had cut it to a 3 point lead late in the 3rd. If the Hawks can shoot like they have been the past couple games, could be an interesting cyhawk game. It'd be nice to see Jok blow a kiss to the student section in the closing minutes...

The ISU women played Buffalo too?

W. IL got hammered by Creighton - who just lost to Loyola last week. It's still pretty early to know how good many of these teams are, but Iowa looked dialed in. MG played sloppy with the ball again tho... i hope we see this focused effort Thursday night.

I'm not worried about the starters Thursday. But this will be a whole new level of "hostile environment" for the young guys. I believe we can win. But I certainly don't expect us to win. Iowa State will be the best prep to date for conference play...talent, environment, intensity, etc.
