We're #1!

UNC lost this week.. Purdue @MD, Villanova @Providence over the weekend.. With a little help, Iowa could maybe hit #2 in the polls next week? #4 at worst, assuming a win @ILL of course.

OU plays @K-State, so I don't expect them to lose.

As long as Kenpom has existed a majority of national champions are in the top 15 in both offensive and defensive effeciency. If they aren't top 15 they are close. That makes sense because if you are good at offense and defense you are good. Duh. But, there is only 1 team at the moment who is top 15 in both at the moment....based off all that one could argue we are slight favorites to win it all right now...think about that

We are top 15 in both after the hard part of our schedule and after we weren't that great of a team yet at the beginning of the year. If we continue to play this hard, those numbers will only go up with the schedule we have left.

Interesting. A couple weeks ago I think there were 3 or 4 teams meeting this criteria. So there's some movement up and down with the other teams in the mix. But Iowa is the one team staying the course.

And of course the champion is going to have a good rating because they beat a bunch of good teams in a row but it's still cool to see us meet that criteria.

Currently there are only 2, Iowa at #5 offense and #12 Defense, and Virginia at 7 and 14. Villanova is close at 21 and 5 along with Oklahoma at 3 and 22, and Sparty at 8 and 24.

Keeping that #1 ranking is going to be hard since out SOS is going to start dropping, especially since we have already dropped to #2.

Kind of hard to keep a ranking when SOS has now dropped to 21 and can only keep dropping when your opponents have these rankings.

@Illinois - 133
Indiana - 21 2 games
Minnesota - 197
@Penn State - 147
Wisconsin - 48
@Ohio St. -75
@Michigan - 46

Yea but if we win out we will probably be number 1 and it's a lot easier to win out when you play that schedule.

Be as efficient or more efficient than his predictor says you'll be and sos doesn't really matter. At least that's the way I understand it.
