well rested or well rusted

does anybody else worry that Iowa will start out flat on Sat? With only 2 games over 2 weeks I fear a slow start, and we all know when this team starts slow it seems it has a hard time getting into a good offensive flow. I think a fast start against Wisc is a must, get them down early and never let up. They should be well rested but I have to wonder if they may be too rested.

I think a rusty start is probably inevitable (thanks a lot, IU, fools). Best thing is, UW could be in the same boat as they have a week off as well.

Hawks will come out on fire. I worry more about them getting up big and slow-bleeding. Unlike in Madtown, The Grinch will have less influence on the zebras to tip the scales.

Hawks by 10 in first half. Lead drops to 1 at half. Fall behind by 2 to start 2nd half. Whitey gets a back door dunk and Hawks don't look back. They'll win going away. 83-70

I think they will be well rested and have recovered from the flu. They should be extremely motivated for this game. They know they have to win this one. They can't lose to the Badgers and the Spartans, and it is going to be very hard to win at MSU......

I would guess motivated, but I would predict rust.....and I would also predict Badgers will come out giving it there all. This one could come down to the very end.

I see a 69-68 type game.

I don't see rust. I see a highly energized team and crowd from the get-go.

I don't think the two are mutually exclusive. The team & crowd will be energized, but there could still be rust. 1 game in something like the last 14 days.. That's not really ideal. Would've been nice to get that IU game in this week to keep the team in a rhythm.

I hope someone steps up tomorrow, Marble and White have not done well after this kind of layoff. I think the key will be Gesell, the last time Iowa played Wisconsin he struggled and he might be needed to light a fire.

I agree with you 1977. I don't know if I've ever felt like the effort wasn't fully there. Fran usually has these guys ready to play. Their biggest issue has been finding a shooting rhythm. When they find it they are just fine. However, when they brick a couple it can quickly become contagious with these Hawks. Next thing you know they're in the midst of a 5 minute scoring drought. I really hope that doesn't happen Saturday or I don't like the Hawks chances of winning. Wisconsin is playing much better basketball right now than they were not so long ago. Brust's health will make a difference, but if the Hawks are able to knock down their shots then I don't think it will matter whether he's playing or not.

I will let out a huge sigh of relief if they come out and hit a few quick ones to start the game. A week in between games always worries me. That Indiana game could have, and should have been a nice tune-up.

I actually think it hurts Wisconsin more than anything, they have to travel, they are getting snow and ice as well....Our kids come out swingin' tomorrow....it's a home game, a huge game, and the home crowd will be a tremendous factor tomorrow

Maybe rusty shooting but fresh legs. Start a track meet from the opening tip, and substitute often. Get them gassed and run them out of the gym.

If we aren't hitting the jumpers or rebounding there is no track meet, if we are rusty and not hitting, Wisc. will force the slow down game on us

No worries here. I seem to recall Marble saying he was "looking forward" to them coming to our place after the debacle at Wisconsin. This could be like Minnesota...close at half and then ultimately Iowa wins big.
