Who is going to play center? We don't need a true center, nor do we really need or want one with our run tempo and motion offense. But we could use another good pickup, the likes of Anthony.

PG - Cartwright
SG - Hubbard
SF - Gatens
PF - Basabe
C - ???

OR is it -

PG - Cartwright
SG - Hubbard
SF - Gatens
PF - Basabe
PF - ???

I'm also extremely and comfortable with -
PG - Cartwright
SG - Hubbard
SF - Gatens
PF - Basabe

F - McCabe, Marble & May.

McCaffery will have 3M much improved come next fall. From multiple sources (including coach) they are working hard on all aspects of their game, harder than ever some say. That my friends brings a smile to my face. It's great to have a coach again!

Go Hawks!

Not many teams play a true center anymore, so its certainly not essential that we start one. Brommer would be the closest thing we have to a center, but that doesn't mean he should or will start. I think Fran will put the best 5 guys out there. Cartwright, Gatens, Basabe, Hubbard, and 5th guy to be determined, but likely May or Marble IMO.

Are there a lot of true centers out there? No. Even Sullinger isn't a true center. But we're talking about going VERY small (as in short AND thin) quite a bit if we go by the proposed lineups. There may not be a lot of true centers out there anymore, but this is still the Big Ten. You've GOT to have guys who can bang on the inside, too.
