We got our behinds handed to us there

When you shoot 31%, have only 4 assists and get out rebounded to a team that shoots over 50% your going to get spanked. I expected a loss but I thought they would compete. It is a real concern with Basabe and Cartwright. They have become extremely inconsistant.

I didn't see the refs helping the hawks much today. We had three of their starters on the bench in the first half with foul trouble. We just can't win when we shoot as poorly as we did today.

They short armed about 10 jumpers where they got good position in the lane. I truly think they may have been too amped up. Offensively, I was impressed with OSU and the beating they put on the Hawks inside D, but Iowa's offense choked more than I thought OSU's D dictated that end of the floor.

I agree. I really don't understand what is going on with them. Two huge keys to the success of this team.

And yes the refs had nothing at all to do with this loss.

Agree. The refs were quite generous to us in the first half and without free throws, I am not sure how we would have scored. I remember Basabe and Brommer having strong games against OSU last season, but I can't remember the specifics. I don't remember OSU playing that kind of hellish D for 40 minutes.

Basabe just doesn't have a strong post up game and I am not sure it would have mattered against the athletes OSU ran out there. Cartwright seems to be indecisive about what to do. Last year he seemed to have a good feel for the game and understand what to do when. This year not so much.

I thought the refs were consistent, but they allowed a lot of physical play, especially in the first half, and that clearly favored OSU's physcial specimans out there.
Now, they did call a lot of fouls on OSU,but OSU was roughing up our guys on every play, which meant that the refs would have had to call a lot more...and they did not.

With the physical play allowed,OSU totally could over match the Hawks, who are just not as strong, fast, quick or big as the Bucks.

OSU could literally split their roster in half- 6 on one side,7 on the other, and be the favorite in the Big Ten with either team. Give Fran the second 7 off their bench, and Iowa is fighting for the Big Ten title with OSU and MSU. When you have 10 top 100 players vs 1 for Iowa...not a fair fight.

Iowa loses that game either way, but the refs were awful IMO. Maybe someone can explain to me why Gatens (and yes, I realize his momentum was carrying him out of bounds) was not given that timeout while he still had both feet ON THE FLOOR still inbounds, yet OSU's player is granted the timeout in the middle of a scrum when he didn't even have the ball.

I can't. Both of those were really bad calls imo.

Ohio State is one of the best teams in the country. Final Four material for certain, perhaps this is the year the Big Ten wins the national championship.....

Their second team could probably finish in the top half of the conference. The freshman point guard, who comes off the bench, is going to be trouble. He is really good. His passing game is outstanding. Hate to say it......

I still will be happy with 6 conference wins, which is within reach.....

:)
