we could be tied for 2nd

There is a pretty good chance we will be tied for 2nd place before we take the court again on Saturday. Indiana plays at Purdue and Maryland plays at OSU. If the home team wins both games we will be in a 7 or 8 way tie for 2nd place. Depending on what happens in the MSU Rutgers game.

I’m really not sold on Indiana, especially without a big guy. Then again I’m still not sold on Tom Crean unless its 2003 and Dwayne Wade is on his team.

There is a pretty good chance it won't matter after Iowa's next 3 games. The flip side for Iowa is the schedule is very favorable after these next 3 games, but the bigger question becomes how does the team react to what I think is a 5 game losing streak.

You're right that there is a good chance it won't matter in 3 games. I'm rooting hard for Maryland and indiana to lose though just in case we end up going 2-1. If we can somehow manage that, we will probably have the easiest schedule of everyone that's fighting for second.

I think Iowa wins at least 1 (maybe 2) of the next 3. I believe there is talent on this team and believe they are too good to just lay down and lose 5 straight.

I concur. Michigan, even if it is at Michigan, is winnable for the Hawks, (by that logic so was Purdue though). And Maryland is pulling out some wins, but they have had some shaky performances on the road in the Big10, so if Carver is a hostile environment, that game also is winnable.

Because it's likely White and/or Olaseni will miss at least 1 of the next 3 games, I think 1 win is most realistic. But I would not be surprised by 3 losses in this tough stretch.

It's certainly possible. I just don't think it will happen. I also think it's possible Iowa could win 7 out of their last 8 rather than 6 which still has them in good shape.

Side Note - The NCAA Selection Committee does consider injuries when making selections. So Iowa could lose 5 straight then win 6 of their last 8 and still be in good shape at 10-8 if White and/or Olaseni aren't playing in those games...but are back for the stretch run. But laying an egg on Thursday of the Big 10 Tournament would be a very bad idea in this scenario...better win on Thursday and at least be competitive on Friday.

We are 4-2 against teams not named Wisconsin. The other 2 losses are to teams we won't play again. I still like Iowa to win 7 more in conference...not sure 11-7 gets a Thursday bye but it will be close. And I have no doubt that 11-7 equals NCAA bid.

I think we split the next 10 games for a resounding 9-9 BIG conference record. 18-12 and an NIT birth, unfortunately.

If we win tomorrow we will be tied for 2nd in the loss collumn with by far the easiest schedule of everyone left. Huge game.

We also need the RPI (seed) bump. Indiana and maybe Illinois are about the only 2 games left that will help our RPI much. Of course winning and our past opponents winning usually helps a little.
