On the high end guys (Dixon/Turgeon), you may be right but there could be scheduling issues that have prevented meetings, or there could be hard negotiations.
With Marshall, just guessing but something could still break if Iowa came to him with an offer too good to refuse.
With Boylan, let's hope that he was the only one interested--but again, if we strike out with everyone else, we could end up doubling back on just about anyone.
I hope Gary Barta will come out of this with all of us being pleasantly surprised, or at least greatly relieved. The possibility of that outcome still exists.
However, the possibility also still exists that he will come out of this with a guy with a resume that could only impress a mother, and a huge ****storm will ensue. I think the possibility of that outcome is much greater if it turns out that Barta is unwilling to go the high major assistant route. Forbes sounds like John Wooden to me relative to some of the HC names that are starting to pop up as possibly being involved in the search now.
Common sense tells me that Barta knows the gravity of the situation for the program and for him, and will not come back from an elephant hunt with a squirrel in hand. I'm absolutely not in the camp that says "it has to be Pearl" or "it has to be a big name" or "it has to be an [instantly recognizable] home run." I just want a very good coach with a lot of upside who has proven that he can recruit at the high major level. I don't think that's unrealistic, particularly if you're willing to look at assistants.
