We can all say what we want...

but it boils down to defending and being physical. We are not strong in either of those areas. Until we are we will be one half, or two thirds of a game wonders, unable to finish anything. It is what it is folks.

To me it looks like last years MVP was Eric May. He was tough as nails and defended on the perimeter. This year's perimeter defense is a joke. We need juco 6-2 to 6-6 guys who are athletic and can guard somebody. They are not on this roster. The big guys are too weak inside as well. There isn't one guy on this team who can post anyone up with any consistency. Better send Chris Doyle over to the basketball team

The lack of physicality and any defensive aggression drives me nuts. But it is a massive problem.

Start recruiting better would be a start

Are you sure? You really think getting more talented kids will help?

Considering the absolute laughingstock of a program Fran inherited, is it reasonable to assume the top kids in the nation aren't dying to play for iowa? Fran has done what he has had to do. Find some underrated kids who could come in and play his style of basketball. And ge has done pretty well with it. The recruiting is improving, and so is the team.

Give it time.

I would agree and I think the physical part is going to recruit a couple JUCO bad boys.
