And Iowa was mentioned only twice in the hour long preview.
the first time was when the analysts were dissecting the Ohio State schedule. They said the Big Ten championship could boil down to Ohio State at Iowa on Nov 20th.
The second time was when the analysts were breaking down the Penn State Schedule after doing an expose` on Joe Pa.
It was a mention of a tough road game at Iowa.
That was it...teams that they broke down that I think are not going to be playing a role in the landscape of college football this year were USC (post-season ban), Notre Dame (just not there yet with a new head coach.) and Michigan (Rich-Rod being on the hot seat).
It's again another slap in the face of Iowa, we all know Iowa is more relevent this year than ND, USC, and Mich. Yet no breakdown of the Hawks. Actually it was a waste of an hour, I was expecting a breakdown of a Championship dark horse and a #9 rated Hawkeye team.
Again I was left dissapointed.

You attention junkie....JK. Not surprising. Not too many espn analysts have a love affair with Iowa the way they do a lot of other teams.

Iowa is going to be a polarizing team this year. You're going to have your national analysts that love the Hawks and the ones that really despise them. If Iowa comes out of the gate strong and goes 4-0 with some decisive wins I think they will come on board really quick.

It's not a slap in the face. ESPN's job is to generate viewers and ad revenue. More people care about USC, ND, Florida, Michigan, OSU, etc etc than Iowa. If they focused on Iowa in depth they'd be trying to trade out 30 second commercials for free tractor tires and stuff...

I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for people to figure out.

This. ^

Nobody's forgotten our escape-artist pattern from last year; we will have to prove we can put teams away early, rather than pulling out Q4 heroics, before the respect will grow.

This is totally not true. Lou Holtz talked about nothing but the Hawks. He must have mentioned them about 100 times. It's just that - with the slurring and the spitting and all - nobody can actually understand what ol' mushmouth is saying... ;)

Who are you people? Rodney Dangerfield?

There are something like 3 million people in the state of Iowa and maybe 2/3 of those people are Hawkeye fans which in terms viewers of there television program is about equivalent to a suburb of Chicago.

 - ESPN only mentioned Iowa twice and only in reference to tOSU and PSU?!?!?!? I'm shocked and appalled -

Iowa will get their run. We may have to wait until after November 20th but they'll be there. It's still early, lets not break out the "Disrespect" just yet.
