Doesn't look like Washpun has bad form.

I have seen the game-winner a few times. I cannot believe the coach didn't guard the inbounder. Basketball 101. Wow.

Actually, yes it does. Watch it a few more times. There is no consistency and he looks like he is just lobbing it up there. Watch the difference in rotation between his shot and Josh's.

Any high school starter should be able to hit the rim from there. The difference is if it goes in.

The impressive thing is the 360 he pulls after the game winner.

Caar is correct, Wes has kind of a shotput action to his shot. I know it's just an open gym, but Josh Ogelsby didn't miss a single shot.

He shot just a touch under 40% as a senior, and that was being the focus of opponent's defense and his offense's primary scorer. He had nights when his shot was off, but because he was his team's best scoring option, he kept bombing and ended up with a couple of ugly 1-10 type games.

I think as a shooter off the bench, he can be deadly in college.

Good observation. Wes starts his shot down by his knees, i.e., he brings the ball way down and then is jumping and lifting his arms from below his waist to shoot. Probably learned that shot when he was little and needed the extra oomph to get the ball up to the rim, and no one ever corrected it. Ogelsby starts his shot from no lower than his chest. Fewer moving parts, and can get the shot off quicker. Now that he's bigger and stronger, it's fixable, if he wants to fix it.

Economy of motion, the good shooters have it. But it takes commitment and a coach with a keen eye to help make corrections. I would put Marble right between these two with his shooting.

not impressed. he shot like 25% from 3pt range.
Carroll and Carlisle both have PG's that are better, Carroll's shot like 49% from 3 and Carlisle's shot 39% i think they're both Juniors too.
that being said. i dont know if either one is D-1 worthy right now...
i know what talent looks like. but im not a talent scout.

I didn't say he had great form either. It's definitely something that could be fixed. I guess my point I was trying to make is with a few tweaks he could definitely bring that percentage up. I don't get all this hate on this board. He's a point guard. We need him to be able to take care of the ball, get people good looks, get to the rim, and play good defense. I'm pretty sure he can do all of that. I'm sure Fran can coach him up and he'd be a nice addition to our team. Some people are making it sound we just offered John Lickliter.

I'm not necessarily on the Washpun bandwagon, but shooting percentages is not the first thing I would look for in a PG.

Don't get me wrong, he must improve, but just because another PG out shoots Wes, doesn't make them better.

i agree with you 100% im just saying. it'd be nice if the kid could shoot. Iowa lacks another scorer, he shoots in the 40's for free throws too.
im not saying hes not a good player. im just saying, im not really sold on him...
that means in 3 years he'll prove me wrong and be my favorite player haha.

I like Washpun. He is loaded with natural ability. He has lots of upside and will be an exciting player to watch. Bryce isn't the best shooter in the world either.
