It was kind of a douchey question but valid all the same. Ask the question as part of an actual question. Coach you've had trouble with Washington who tends to get higher ranked recruits, how will you, what will you, why is it...etc. When you throw back a snarky comment question like that.....I'd probably (hopefully) bite my tongue, short answer it and never take a question from him again or limit his opportunity in the future. Put him on the one sentence vague answer list.

Yeah when the intent of the dude asking the question is to get the response he got then he gets what he got coming... Not sure why reporters think that's 'cool' or that it props them up in anyway to be on the receiving end of that. But I suppose his goal is to climb the ladder to national prominence and getting 15 min of fame is the fastest short cut to it.
