Was HawkPhreek wrong?

Sorry if I didn't spell his name right, but he was hinting that we have a pg commit, but wouldn't elaborate when asked. Now that Fran filled two out of three schollies and he said he'd most likely bank the third, are we to assume Phreek was wrong?
I could still see a JUCO pg, but I don't think Fran would take a high school PG because he seems to think we have a good shot at Gessel and won't want to have Gesell battling with a guy one year older than him because that might scare Gessel away.

Who knows but if we decided to finger or to ban everyone who speculated on this forum then there probably wouldn't be a forum left. Everyone does it. I admit I was some what edgy it about too. I haven't seen this poster on here since he or she was challenged to produce more info to verify the claim. I'm not going to hold it against this person for expressing himself/herself and being hopeful. I am sure this is a learning lesson for everyone. The great news is we have a basketball team again!!!

Point well taken and what made it worse is that it continued on even after Hubbard committed. Hey I'm not perfect so I say it's all water under the bridge.

Last year I was hearing stuff about a PG recruit that didn't have a name attached. I posted this information on this board, but said it was what I was hearing, but I didn't know for sure. Then the Salter stuff started coming up and then it was gone and so was the chatter. I figured that I was hearing about Salter, but never knew for sure. Except I am pretty much completely sure it wasn't Cartwright. So, it isn't completely necessary to name names, but you should be as clear as possible.

Or maybe he heard info from a source he thought was credible....but it turns out wasn't this time. I have to stick up for the Phreek just a little because this has happened to me as well. I've been passed info from sources that had been reliable in the past that ended up being wrong(most recently about a bb commit 6 months ago or so).

Don't get me wrong, if I make a prediction that doesn't end up coming true, I expect to be ridiculed a bit on this site. But to call someone a scumbag or question his Hawkeye allegiance??? That's a bit much.

Hold on folks, I have a Commit lozenge coming" and he somehow turned that into "Hold on folks, Iowa has a PG commit coming!" apparently with the noise and the drinking, he got a little "fuzzy" with the details when he sobered up. My apologies.

I agree with this, at least to a degree. The only issue I have/had with Phreek is that he KEPT posting vague hints, never offered up any sort of details (to my knowledge, anyway), and got everyone bouncing off the walls. Then when no commit came, he disappeared, and hasn't been heard from since.

"Scumbag" is too strong. "D-bag" is probably in the ballpark of what's appropriate, given how he strung everyone along and then elected to go all Jimmy Hoffa instead of taking a little flak.
