Was BF recruiting David Bell today?

It's clear that Iowa is a much better place to play football than Indiana. Iowa wins a lot more, Iowa has better fan support, Iowa puts more players in the NFL. After watching this game I'd expect him to commit soon.

Bell is a Purdue lean right now. Has an OSU offer, but they’re full. Has a PSU offer, but my understanding is it’s not a commitable offer right now. Gonna come down to us and Purdue...

Who knows. Might not be the only thing that comes down to us and Purdue.

They are going to rue that opening night loss to jNW from way back when! They gave that game away just as much as we gave the Wisconsin game away.

Iowa gets to bring this air raid show to Purdue as well, so let’s bring bell to that dump of a town to see a game as well.

Iowa has really upped the passing game, but Purdue's offense is even more pass heavy. They average 330 YPG through the air to our 256. Both offenses average 8.6 YPA, but Purdue throws it way more than Iowa does, with 9 more passing attempts per game than Iowa.

I'm not so sure the PSU offer is non-commitable. From everything I've read, I would say that Bell is a pretty strong PSU lean right now, with Purdue just behind them. We probably are a fairly distant third as it stands, and, OSU is always lurking in the dark. You never know how Meyer is going to shake out his class.

Now, all of that certainly could change if we upset PSU and beat Purdue, especially with Brents and Britt in his ear, but, right now, I'd say it's a long shot that we land him.

It'd sure be awesome to land him... He seems like a plug and play ready to go play maker. Put him on one side Smith on the other with ISM in the slant. Fant (I'm day dreaming here I'm 99.9% sure Fant is going pro) and Hockenson at TE with all 3 of our RBs coming back with most of our Oline back... Next years offense could be as potent as it's ever been...

Fan support at IU is embarrassing, that stadium is a mausoleum
Pretty sure purdue has issues too but yea wow. Maybe they should have season tickets holders verify theyre going to the game week before and then sell those that dont for next to nothing.

Kansas is basketball first too but they do better whole lot better football attendanxe than that.

I heard via rumor mill that Bell was in attendance on an Indiana visit. If someone knows more, please correct me.

I think the end of game BS was about getting Nate to 7 TDs to tie the conference and school records.

I have a hard time believing the ferentz’s have passing records in mind calling plays. I suspect it was more along the lines or Allen being a raging idiot most of the first half and saying something an Iowa player or coach took personally.

Pretty sure no one except Bell and those close to him know which way he’s leaning. Some are suggesting Purdue simply because they’re in Indiana. Some are suggesting Penn State simply because they’re the best team with a commitable offer. Bell hasn’t given a public indication of which way he’s leaning just a top 5. Let’s see what happens.

What do you mean by an offer not being committable? Sorry about my recruiting naïveté?

He will also be at Iowa-Purdue.

I saw Bell play in person Friday night. I will be posting an interview with him tonight and video highlights with scouting report tomorrow.

It's basically a common SEC move. The term itself is a bit of a misnomer, as a "non-committable" offer really isn't a true offer.

It mostly applies to offers by blue-blood programs during dead periods, where the staff is trying to get the recruit to "stand pat" until they have a chance to further evaluate him. If they aren't that impressed with what they see, then it's common practice to tell the recruit, "We may officially offer you if the three guys above you on our board go elsewhere..."

PSU is not full, and I have no doubt they would accept a commitment from Bell in a heartbeat. Bell has expressed his fondness for the PSU coaching staff on several occasions. Reading the tea leaves, he seems to express the most excitement for PSU compared to his other top schools.

So it’s basically getting waitlisted.
