Wow, what a crop of walk-ons! Almost like having an extra dozen schollies. Of course, KFs amazing legacy of developing low-graded players and walk-ons into highly drafted pros has to help.

Nick Anderson - 6-foot-3, 230-pound LB from Waukee, IA (Iowa Western)

Matt Fagan - 6-foot-5, 265-pound OL from Council Bluffs, IA (St. Albert)

Turner Pallissard - 6-foot-2, 220-pound FB from Frankfort, IL (Lincoln-Way East)

Blair Brooks - 6-foot-3, 190-pound WR from Marion, IA (Marion)

Connor Ruth - 6-foot-0, 215-pound FB from Seward, NE (Seward)

Kordell Stillmunkes - 5-foot-9, 180-pound WR from Cuba City, WI (Cuba City)

Luke Empen - 6-foot-7, 230-pound TE from Goose Lake, IA (Northeast)

Mitchell Riggs - 6-foot-2, 215-pound LB from West Des Moines, IA (Dowling)

Kyle Sorensen - 6-foot-6, 250-pound OL from Waukee, IA (Waukee)

Thanks for posting this information! I had not seen the complete list. Best of luck to these guys.

I just don’t know what to think of this. To me it feels like Iowa missed on whatever it was looking for and grabbed at the leftovers it could get.

I'd agree if these guys weren't walkons. There is no downside to adding these guys, they don't count towards the scholarship limit, you can bring 25 of them to camp, best case scenario they end up like Dallas Clark, worst case they're scout team guys for 4-5 years.

This. Walkons that pan out are a bonus with no downside. In all reality, and historically, that can be the difference in depth and an avg or good/great year.

Do you negative nancys even understand college football? Every program grabs 10 plus walk ons every single year. Iowa does as well or better than most at developing em. The Brooks kid from what I've heard is quite an athlete. Did ISU offer him a scholly? I think he might end up being a kid to watch. His lineage is pretty great in terms of who his Dad and Gpa are

A few positions are usually thin in any given year. There have been a number of years where they had serious issues fielding suitable replacements late in the season, 2006 and 2010 come to mind.

They also have an additional coach on staff now and the recent upgrade in facilities. They might try carrying a few more players in development. See how it works out. They may not take this many walk-ons every year.

I’ll kiss anyone’s ass on this forum at the Dubuque street exit in 5 years 2 hours before the homecoming game; if that Luke Empen isn’t an offensive lineman by then.

Only at Iowa do we drool over this.
