Virginia

I wasn't impressed with either (that's why I took the over). Actually I didn't even watch it, because I really don't care about them. I pinned the score on my phone and went about my business.

Virginia should not have been in a NY6 game, but they got absolutely hosed on that fumble recovery not being overturned. The ball was loose with clear air between Florida QB’s knee and ground when his elbow hit the Virginia defender’s leg. Florida then scored a touchdown on that drive, and Florida only won by one score. Officiating has been abysmal this bowl season. Really embarrassing decisions on replay in almost every game I’ve watched.

Florida got 14 points against South Carolina directly on blown officiating calls. They are like Michigan playing against Iowa or Illinois - they'll get like 90% of the calls and 100% of the egregiously wrong calls.

Why isn’t a NY6 bowl being played on NYDay?
The Boring matchup? NCAA forgot what NY means? What?

Yeah, I can't remember a bowl season with worse officiating. Aside from the bad calls/reviews in our game, look at all the bad calls on ESPN games. Then look who benefited from those calls. Then look at what conference they represent. Then look at who runs the network of said conference. It then becomes pretty clear what's happening...

Agreed, my tinfoil hat could not be more securely fashioned to my head at this point.

That's why there is no chance I will touch the Utah vs Texas game.
I don't watch very many bowl games anyway because of the reasoning you pointed out.
It takes the fun out of it but mostly it takes the sport out of the sport.

I would never have thought like that a year ago. But as Deace and others have pointed out, ESPN continually attempts to control the narrative across numerous sports. They have SEC Network & ACC Network. Then look what schools get the calls, then look at what schools seem to elude the watchful eye--or at least the punishing arm--of the NCAA.

I think it's a real problem, and I think that, worse, people don't see it or even question it.
