Vashon's Mitchell ready for special season

But leading the way will be the 6-foot-1, 190-pound Mitchell, a dynamic two-way playmaker who made a verbal commitment to the University of Iowa back in late June after racking up nine scholarship offers.
Mitchell, who picked the Hawkeyes over Nebraska, Kansas State, Iowa State, Kansas, Indiana, Cincinnati, Memphis and Miami-Ohio, played quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back and returned kicks and punts for the Wolverines as a junior and excelled in each area.
“He’s special because he can do a variety of things,†said Vashon offensive coordinator Brennan Spain. “We’ve had talented wide receivers come through, talented quarterbacks. With this guy you can line him up anywhere and he’ll be productive.â€
A year ago, Mitchell threw for 808 yards, with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions, and racked up 796 total yards (518 rushing, 277 receiving) and seven total touchdowns (three rushing, two receiving and two on kickoff returns).
