Uthoff is something new for Fran: A Clutch Player

This kid wants the ball in the last 5 minutes. Huge, late game shots that made the difference against Ohio St., Nebby and now the Golden Rodents.

Interesting

Great to see Mr. Bigglesworth come through in the clutch. He has the body and the skills, but has always looked a little unsure of himself. Tonight was huge for him.

Jok's got potential, too. He looked great in the first half and then seemed to disappear, but he and Uthoff are cut from the same cloth, mentally. Neither of them are afraid to miss a shot and will fire away with reckless abandon when they either have a good look or know the team needs a bucket.

I thought this thread was x-rated until I put my glasses on . Oh man I laughed.....Almost spill my hot coffee!

Does it pizz anyone else off that Fran only played him only 18 MPG last year, and that McChoke was on the floor at the end of the of every close game last year?

Let it go, man.

Not a chance.....and speaking of not letting it go. Hey Jon Miller, when you gonna fix the take me to the last post you read button. I've been harping/b!tching about this since the site got the makeover....enough already, just fix the freaking thing.

Yes, although he hit the game winner last night, I'm not sure I would call him clutch just yet but it appears he's taken his game to a new level. Much more confidence and assertiveness the last couple games. Same with jok. Let's hope both keep going. Those two becoming consistent scorers along with whitey, the D of woody, bench help from the London fog, now we have something.

Uthoff sucked last year in the B10, he shot 20% from 3, was tentative as hell and gave Fran no choice but to cut his minutes.

And the Sr. McCabe played well in B1G play?

4.3 PPG
35% FG%
26% 3 PT%

BTW Uthoff was:

4.9 PPG
41% FG%
22% 3pt%

Don't we ***** about KF all the time sitting the better player for the Sr. player. Uthoff was tentative and he still played as well as a Sr. with 4 years experience.

Last year was last year.. Water under the bridge. It's 2015 now. Uthoff is much better than he was a year ago.

Neither one of them was good, but gotta give a coach a reason to play you. When Uthoff was out there toward the end of games looking like he wanted no part of the ball, hard to blame the coach for him not getting more minutes. I would have rather had neither of them out there last year, Uthoff was the biggest disappointment for me last season. Iowa needed a third scoring option and he had plenty of chances to step up and grab that role and never did. Luckily he's been much improved this year and is playing like an All-conference player now.

Not realky. JU is a totally different player this year compared to last year.

The problem with playing McCabe, and not playing Uthoff last year, is that one is clearly 100X more talented than the other, and simply needs more time on the court. Fran is doing it again this year by playing Ogs 20 MPG and Jok 17 MPG. Just like last year when Uthoff should have been getting 25 MPG, Jok should be getting 25 MPG this year, and for the same kinds of reasons......they are clearly more talented than the other options, but Fran doesn't let them play through mistake and has a very short hook with them.

Again, Jok will get more minutes when he starts playing smarter. If he isn't hitting shots, he does less than JO. If he continues to hit shots, then Fran should give him a longer leash. He's played more lately and will continue to do so provided he doesn't have lapses. JO leads the team in assist to TO % and Jok has more TOs than he does assists. I see (I hope anyway) that starting to change as Peter continues to get minutes....which will lead to more minutes. Part of the issue with Uthoff and minutes last year was Fran had White at the 3. That was a mistake.

I'm still mad that KF played Christianson instead of Stanzi in the second half against Pittsburgh in 2008. ******* pisses me off.

I've heard this argument before...not playing his best players...where have I heard that...give me a minute...it will come to me.

I'm afraid the argument that this is an Iowa Fan thing just got another vote.
