Wow, that was lame

McDowell wins by default by choking the least. Mickelson, Els and Woods didnt take advantage of any of the opportunites they had

Congrats to McDowell but its pretty disappointing considering 3 hours ago it looked like a showdown was looming between the worlds best players
 
Have you ever played Pebble? Those players didn't choke. That course is impossible. I agree that the ending was anti-climatic, however.

They are the best players in the world and each of them proved earlier in the week that they could make birdies (or at least pars). They definitely choked. Tiger shot 75 when even par wouldve won it.

Each player in contention made unforced errors that they dont usually make.
 
I would rather see the best players in the world make big shots and create a dramatic finish. This was never going to end at -15, but Tiger, Phil and Els all had a chance to get it to 2 or 3 under if they played well

Maybe its just me but a Mcdowell/Havret finish while Tiger, Phil and Els were missing every putt they stood over wasnt very exciting.

I agree, it was a completely un-exciting finish. While I agree Pebble was playing very difficult this week, it was obvious Phil, Ernie, and Tiger choked. Tiger could have shot even par today and won, even +1 he was in a playoff. For god's sake Dustin Johnson shot an 82, he had a 3 shot lead. Everyone choked and McDowell tried to give it away. Congrats to him but this was not the finish anyone was looking for.
 
It was a war of attrition down the stretch...which is how the Open is supposed to be.
I was hoping for a shootout of par golf from the top guys but they could not muster it.
