Urban Meyer Thinks Other BIG Coaches are Lazy

....when it comes to recruiting.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing that the BIG needs to improve recruiting and evaluations. It's the fact that Urban is running his mouth from his pedestal in Columbus where recruiting practically runs itself that is comical to me. Maybe he should try recruiting at Purdue or Indiana for a year to gain some perspective.

Scanned the article but didn't see the part where he called other coaches lazy. Do you have the quote somewhere?
What I did see was that the top Midwestern recruits are increasingly going to the SEC to play. I think the kids feel that they want to play with the best. I'm windering if OSU will be increasingly frustrated by not being part of the SEC.

Urban Meyer would be just fine at Indiana or Purdue. Meyer can probably get better recruits than tOSU can get all by itself.

He wasn't always at the top of the food chain. I highly doubt he'd have the audacity to call other coaches that he has no knowledge of their individual recruiting efforts "lazy". That's not a word I would think coaches would throw around to describe one another in any way. It has alot more to do with resources then it does effort. I mean if Kirk not being up on FB and Twitter and all that gives him a disadvantage in recruiting (and I think it had the last couple yrs) makes him a "lazy" recruiter then that might be a fair critique. But now that Kirk has his kid and Woods and probably other coaches doing it I'd hope that levels the playing field.

Just hoping that Meyer goes into those Big Ten coaches meetings next week and accuses the rest of the league of being lazy. Easy for him to say when he has an SEC style booster organization in a million+ sized city brimming with Buckeye businessmen willing to pay for players, and are allowed to do it,as history has shown.

If not paying recruits is being lazy, then yes, KF is lazy.

I get really tired when every bigten fan falls back on argument that the SEC pays players, has coeds seduce them etc. etc.

Does that go on? Yeah, Im sure it does but if you think it doesn't go on in the bigten you're crazy.

Plenty of us are fine with the delusion that we do it the right way and wed rather be clean than win games. The real answer is the SEC cares more about football than every other conference and the programs pay to stay on top.

SEC pays their coaches, including coordinators and position coaches and brings in the best most innovative head coaches in the country. The recruit like hell and spend the money and time to go after the top recruits.

Do they have some natural advantages like weather and less stringent academics? Yeah, probably but I don't think that is a big part of it. Most kids care about their school work and try, most know they aren't going pro.

The point is if you think the only reason the SEC has been so dominant is they pay recruits youre a fool. BigTen needs to step it up if they want to compete.

I can't speak for other schools but in Iowa's case it appears Urban is right. I am pretty darn competitive and I get pissy when I find out Iowa hasn't been after a good player just a few states away. The first thing that comes to mind is that they aren't trying very hard. Poaching from UNI is like fishing in the toilet
