Bingo... I have to admit that shouldn't have surprised me but the way MSU was imploding like they were made me think Izzo especially may have jumped the sinking ship before getting shoved out. But they both weathered that storm so why couldn't Meyer? It's horrible IMO - but I also know nothing is going to happen. It will be talked about for a few days and brushed aside. If Izzo and Dantonio can survive what they did - at the same school at the same time, this isn't gonna amount to much more then everyone knowing what they knew before today, that Urban's a scum bag.
I only saw one OSU game last year - the game in Iowa City. Based on what I saw there, I don't think this would be too bad of a punishment. That's when you don't say anything and pad your coach up and put him on the d line for a week. Tell your ol that if they hold back, they don't play. All during 2 a days. At the end of the week, you tell him what you know and ask him if he learned his lesson.

I think all 3 of those guys should be toast from what's out there on it all. But with how things are and how untouchable some folks seem to be it just wouldn't surprise me if none of them are anytime soon.. Do you think with camps all opening up for football OSU is going to take one look at this and kick Meyer out? I think they should but doubt they will...The story of Izzo isn't done yet. My guess is Meyer may very well be done. If the woman is credible he directly knew it. Izzo's situation is more vague. Wow, even ole 8 and 3 Earl is involved.
A few days after Zach’s 2009 arrest, Courtney said two of Meyer’s closest friends – Hiram de Fries and Earle Bruce – asked her to drop the charges. Bruce is Zach Smith’s grandfather, de Fries is Meyer’s “life coach.”
Bruce, who died in April, has a special place in Meyer’s heart. Bruce succeeded Woody Hayes at Ohio State from 1979-87, posting an 81-26-1 record in nine seasons.
“He is the strongest relationship I’ve ever had other than my father,” Meyer said last week. “I’ve made that clear many, many times.”
Bruce and Zach’s mother drove from Ohio to Gainesville to ask Courtney to drop the charges, Courtney said. Courtney said she also received a call from de Fries to set up a meeting at Panera Bread on SW Archer Road in Gainesville.
Meyer and de Fries’ relationship goes back more than 20 years, when Meyer was an assistant at Colorado State in the 1990s. Unofficially, de Fries has been a professional life skills expert the past two decades. His official title at Ohio State: special assistant to the head coach.
“I hung up out of fear because I was scared Zach would lose his job,” Courtney said. “He threw me down on the bathroom floor (in April of 2015) and screamed ‘look what you’ve turned me into.’ I don’t know what he was on. Another time, he took the top of a dip can and cut my hand. Everyone – all my family – said don’t call 911. If you do, he’ll get fired.”
Police records in Florida and Ohio document a history of domestic violence allegations, and a trail of physical and verbal abuse, stalking and intimidation by Zach Smith, 34. He spent nearly one-third of his life working for Meyer, one of the most successful and powerful football coaches of all-time.

Video have changed things more than anything. Pics help but even those didn't get Greg Hardy what he deserved. It takes cooperating victims, video, and even witnesess to have an iron clad case it seems like... We'll see how OSU responds soon enough...That was some thorough reporting. It seems that it is often the details that sway public perception. Ray Rice was charged with abuse, no big outcry, the video came out, and there was outrage. The detail in that reporting is very damning to Meyer.
The ultimate issue will be the degree of autonomy the athletic department at OSU has. I think Iowa was on the leading edge of bringing other institutional constituents into the governance of the athletic department following the Pierce incident(s). I believe there is a faction of deans and profs with no interest in athletics who hold significant sway over discipline issues at Iowa and that is why a guy like Coker will get suspended and then disappear almost immediately. If there is anything involving violence against women, Iowa is very swift to take action and I think the athletic department is involved in the process but I think they have designed the discipline system so that the AD is outvoted to ensure a star ball player isn't going to harm Iowa's reputation or pocketbook from litigation.Video have changed things more than anything. Yeah, I thought there was no chance Bill Cosby was serving up Hot Cosby's to hundreds of women, too. In the current environment, never say never. Ohio State still looks stupid for Gordon Gee claiming that he took orders from Tressel. We'll see if the broader organization has a spine or if they'll bow to football. No way in hell Urban Meyer gets fired. No chance.

If that fact pattern happened at Iowa, I think Ferentz would be gone within 48-72 hours - enough time to build up a case for termination for cause and gather evidence. For all of its faults, Iowa does have a best practices compliance mechanism for situations when conflicts of interest between the broader university and AD arise. After all the crap that has happened to every Big Ten school with "State" in its name, people are taking note that compliance needs to be front and center. We'll see if Ohio State is on board with that message.
I have no doubt that he knew about it and I've long thought Meyer was a piece of shit.Yeah, I thought there was no chance Bill Cosby was serving up Hot Cosby's to hundreds of women, too. Should be, but won't, IMO.If Urban knew about this and lied, which it appears so, he should be fired. Look at all the crap that went on with him when he coached at Florida. That crap about how he lied about leaving Florida because he had heart problems, f-ing liar is what he is.....chronic liar. No respect for the man.
