Today's rankings update brought about several new four-stars in the Midwest. Here they are and why they made the jump.
Delano Hill - committed to Iowa
Safety - Detroit Cass Tech (Mich.)
We really liked Hill as a junior, but on a talented Cass defense, sometimes it was hard to see him making a ton of plays in-game. He took to the camp circuit this spring and summer and did very well. What was particularly eye opening was what he did at The Opening against the nation's best. He had a great few days out there and showed his speed, running a 4.44 forty at 6'1, 190-lbs.

Nic Shimonek is now rated a 3 star and moved up about 40 spots to the #60 rated QB prospect:
Shimonek is a standout athlete at the small school outside Corsicana. He has good size and can really throw the football as he doubles as a quarterback and also plays shortstop and pitcher in baseball.
2011 Stats: Shimonek led Mildred to a 13-1 campaign and he threw for 2,939 yards completing 193 of 291 passes (66%) with 37 touchdowns and just three interceptions. He also ran for 221 yards on 58 carries and eight more touchdowns.
Shimonek is a very accurate quarterback. He makes a solid decision and picks out the open receiver and hits him in stride. He also shows the ability to work outside of the pocket and find receivers. He is not a huge threat to beat you with his feet, but does a good job of keeping his eyes down the field to find targets. He throws with nice touch and receivers have no problem catching his balls. Will need to get stronger. – Greg Powers
"He loves basketball and baseball, but that doesn't allow him to concentrate on football like a lot of other guys at 4A and 5A schools," his high school coach Patrick Harvell said. "I think he's going to be excellent in college once he gets with Coach Davis and just concentrates on football. I think the sky is the limit."
