After last Sunday it will be great to see Iowa back out on the court tomorrow night. But, unfortunately, it is against probably the worst team in the conference. Honestly I would be more worried about tomorrow night if Carmody was still coaching at Northwestern because, let's face it, these are his players out there. Northwestern hiring Chris Collins looked good initially but now I cannot help but wonder if they are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Collins recruited Chicago well when he was an assistant at Duke and he brings a more of an up tempo style of play but it is a little different recruiting a Chicago kid to a place like Duke than Northwestern. Honestly Northwestern would have been a great place for a guy like Lickliter to resurface as playing that Butler style is probably what works best for the talent a school like Northwestern attracts. I think Carmody was a pretty darn good coach for what he had to work with and the results may have been different last year had Crawford not gotten hurt.
Northwestern does have Drew Crawford back and he is the main player for Iowa to have to worry about. Sobolewski is still on the team but he has regressed to the point where you might as well let him shoot because he is only hitting 26% of his field goals and only 18% of this 3 point goals. Honestly this is a bad team and Iowa should not have any problems taking care of business tomorrow night, even without Fran.
