Up Next: Iowa vs Northwestern

After last Sunday it will be great to see Iowa back out on the court tomorrow night. But, unfortunately, it is against probably the worst team in the conference. Honestly I would be more worried about tomorrow night if Carmody was still coaching at Northwestern because, let's face it, these are his players out there. Northwestern hiring Chris Collins looked good initially but now I cannot help but wonder if they are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. Collins recruited Chicago well when he was an assistant at Duke and he brings a more of an up tempo style of play but it is a little different recruiting a Chicago kid to a place like Duke than Northwestern. Honestly Northwestern would have been a great place for a guy like Lickliter to resurface as playing that Butler style is probably what works best for the talent a school like Northwestern attracts. I think Carmody was a pretty darn good coach for what he had to work with and the results may have been different last year had Crawford not gotten hurt.

Northwestern does have Drew Crawford back and he is the main player for Iowa to have to worry about. Sobolewski is still on the team but he has regressed to the point where you might as well let him shoot because he is only hitting 26% of his field goals and only 18% of this 3 point goals. Honestly this is a bad team and Iowa should not have any problems taking care of business tomorrow night, even without Fran.

This will be a a 15 to 20 point win for the Hawks. Marble will probably be assigned to Crawford. Northwestern will have a hard time in match ups with White, Basabe, and Woodbury.

I agree, and I think Uthoff could easily defend Crawford as well. I think Woodbury could get to double digits in points and it would be nice to see Oglesby and Jok get some opportunities. There are some huge match up problems for Northwestern. I am hoping they can limit Marble in order to keep him fresh for Ohio State.

I thought our next game was Sunday against OSU? Awe crap I over looked northwestern. My bad guys, this loss is on me.

I predict and unexpected close game and then lightning posts a bunch of weird stuff. Then he shows his old balls.

Collins and NW will struggle as he tries to play Duke ball with Princeton players he inherited from Carmody. But, Collins does have a top 25 recruiting class coming next fall. Iowa pursued several of his recruits,(Law, McIntyre, Scott from Oak Park)...so might be too early to question Collins ability to recruit in Chicago.

I agree, it is a tad early. I have not been following Northwestern recruiting, getting a top 25 class to Northwestern is incredible. But at least for this year the team is all mixed up.

We should win handily....but no game us a gimme. Hawks need to jump out quick and play clean. Dang refs better keep their hands to themselves too....

Just like the "easy" fb schedule. High expectations are a sob.
