University of Iowa alum behind Washington Redskins trademark cancellation

Sounds like someone's mad they didn't get into law school.

couldn't pass up medical school. law school for wannabes like yourself.

but since you are such a smart guy, you'll know that this has happened before to the redskins and has precedent of being overturned. hope the asshat in the article is happy with all his work.

this has nothing to do with 'the law'; moreso everything to do with politics and the current tides.

If by "current tides" you are referring to the current tide of not using racial epithets for team nicknames, that is a tide I would happily ride in on.

In between the lines of "Give me liberty or give me death" and "Four score and seven years ago" and the Iwo Jima flag raising, there is a fair amount of American history that's nothing to be proud of. I'd say the systematic relocation/eradication of native peoples probably falls safely within those bounds.

We do have free speech in this country, so I think by the letter of the law, a private enterprise is welcome & protected by law to call itself the "Washington Redskins" or the "Duluth Jungle Bunnies" the "Montgomery Wetbacks", but is there not a point where common decency/tastefulness supersedes the law? Just sayin'.

Better luck next time.

It just so happens that white journalist and white liberals are leading this charge, so I take it for what it is.....complete and total political correctness/white guilt, the 2 things that completely and totally drive journalist and liberals.

Jon please move this thread to Teh Wasteland.

Well there are 31 owners(minus Jerry Jones who could give a ****)that hope you are right. Momentum is to the point now where it is going to continue to build where Danny boy won't have a choice, but to change the name.
