Uncertain Future? - scout.com

I think it feels more uncertain for David and not John. Either way I hope both end up at Iowa. But I like JK sounds more certain and definite. I think David is a little more susceptible to the public opinion and what his twitter followers tell him and possible negative recruiting. Either way hope they both come to Iowa.

Sounds like someone has already used the "Kirk is going to get fired" strategy with David. They obviously aren't aware of the Kirk's buyout. John sounds pretty sure about his Iowa commitment. Hopefully, we can kick some butt against Penn State and remind him why he chose Iowa in the first place.

a night game in Kinnick vs PSU as compared to his trips to IU games is certainly a selling point. And a little (ok a huge) difference in FB success over the past 30-100 yrs. But playing the team your dad works for very close to home is tough to pass on....

Once they come to Kinnick and see the atmosphere for a night game, it's a done deal. Being there for a game is cool enough, but a night game... Forget about it!

myself I am not worried about losing 1 DE. as Iowa has 4 very solid and young WSDE in the fold Spears RSFR, McMinn RSFR and true FR Ott with Vencus red shirting
and this year is not done yet.. losing Kenney to Indiana because of his dad should have been expected, even Latham decommitted from Wisconsin because of this and they are working on Elijah Daniel another kid from Indiana that committed to Clemmons another 4* prospect on the defensive side of the ball

Spears hasn't shown much so far. I know he's young but is he injured? These guys may be good in a couple of years but that's not a given.

Iowa needs their DL to be athletic. Look at Gaglione, Bigach and Davis, they are not very athletic. Compare them to Clayborn, Ballard, Daniels, Klug, Binns etc. There is a huge difference. I think McMinn and Ott and Ekakite, Johnson, and Cooper are much more athletic than who have been playing this year. The key is keeping guys in the system to develop. Freshman aren't going to impress much in the trenches, they just don't have the strength, maturity to do it. Iowa has some talent, it just needs to develop, and they can't lose the commits they have this year, that is key.

I have trouble subscribing to this line of thinking. Iowa needs all of the talented players it can get - it may seem like "just one" player, but if you lose Kenny, then another player, then another.. It adds up. Myself, I think all of the attrition we've seen over the last couple years is a big reason for why we are at where we are right now. The more 4* players we have on the roster, the better, IMO. Each one counts.
