UI expects largest ticket sales decline in 10 years

people arent going to buy season tickets when you can get tickets the day of the game for cheaper. It wont improve until the casual fans can come and watch good football. It is also obvious that when you look at this home schedule no games stand out as big games. That is a whole other issue completely with conference expansion and not being able to play the "big boys" of the conference every year. Hopefully the 9 game conference schedule helps with that.

No surprise here, as a lot of my friends didn't renew either. After 31 years, I couldn't pull the trigger. I'll still attend games, but will be able to save a bunch of $$ picking up tickets off the street. Hope they can turn things around.

Last paragraph in the article............

We know that it means a fun tailgating environment. And we're focused on that," Barta said. "I've seen it at Iowa, and I've seen it other places. It's doable. It's an attainable goal. And we're not going to rest until we get there."

Realistically, the numbers just wont be good this year. Need to have a good start to the season to turn that around. And then if there is a good season, next year should be trending back up. Personally, I take pride in the game day atmosphere so I hope the stadium gets filled. It will be a tough day if Iowa State sells more season tickets than the hawks this year

The coach as killed the product inside the stadium

The AD has neutered the experience outside the stadium.

Many on this board, were way ahead of the curve on both... we've been talking about it for several years.

Stub hub has put a huge dent in season ticket buyers. I get to pick my seats and don't need to purchase until a day or two before the game after I have seen the weather forecast. The price is usually competitive too.

Maybe Kinnick needs a Vodka Sam appreciation day and a Paki O'Meera bobblehead day....that'll bring them back.

Not exactly. StubHub is more a barometer of a ticket's value than anything. It's a convenient way to buy if you don't want to purchase season tickets...but the deal you get is directly tied to supply and demand. When the team is hot...you're gonna pay. When it's not, you can get 'em cheap, That would be just as true if you were buying outside Kinnick on a street corner.

i've bought and sold on StubHub. When the product was hot, I made out like a bandit. A couple of years, I paid for most of my season ticket selling the 2 or 3 games I couldn't make it down for. Prices were 2-4 times face value.

Last year doing the same thing... I took a bath.

It's still a supply and demand world, baby.

I renewed my seats a couple months ago. I go for the friends, tailgating and the game of course. I took the downturn as an opportunity to move my seats, and was able to move 20 rows closer to the field.

I'll enjoy the seats and when the excitement returns to Kinnick (winning 9+ games a year or new coach), I will have better seats for the party.

I don't blame those who didn't renew, they have valid reasons. But I do thank them for allowing me upgrade.

What if I buy tickets just to take pictures of myself burning them and sharing the photos on the internet?

Barta is putting lipstick on a pig. His spin:

1. 40%+ for incoming freshmen.
Yeah, loads of money coming from that source.

2. We knew going in we were going to lose season ticket holders; our goals are still attainable.
gollygeewhiz; when you lower your goals so you can easily reach them then, yeah, you can reach them.

Most likely if you moved that far down the valid reason is they went to the great stadium in the sky . . . or maybe even to the cellar of the bottom half.
