Here is my take. If Delaney is serious, he screwed up by waiting. He could have had Maryland for a $20 million payout and now it is $50 million? That's a heavy sum.
Maryland won't pay even close to $50 million, probably 20-25 million. They voted against the buyout, and their administration doesn't feel it will be enforceable. The Big 12 never got the full payout from Texas A&M & Missouri either.
