U of Iowa vs Ames High School - what's the line?

The line would easily be 25+ and Iowa would easily cover. These arguments are ridiculous.

Exactly... Why do idiots think that a HS team could hang with a college team? It's like thiking a college team could hang with an NBA team... Not even close.

Not this crap again??? I don't care how bad Iowa is, Ames could not hang with them. Period!!! Anybody who thinks otherwise just simply does not know anything about basketball!!!

And what's your reasoning behind this? Not saying I think Ames could challenge Iowa I'm just interested as to why anyone who thinks Ames could hang in there is a basketball reject.

I'm going to go ahead and summarize the points that were made the last time this argument was brought up.
Some high schools have enough basketball TALENT to play against some poorer college teams. Prime examples include Findlay Prep and Oak Hill.
These high schools likely don't have enough EXPERIENCE, PHYSICAL MATURITY, or DEPTH to beat even the poorer D1 schools.
Ames is TALENTED, but likely isn't talented enough to play with even the worst D1 schools. (Read--they're good, the best team in Iowa in a long time, but not as good as some HS teams.)
Andy Katz of ESPN (I emailed him about this subject) says that high school teams aren't good enough to beat college teams.

My reasoning is that I played high school basketball and had brothers and a father that played college basketball. College players are bigger, stronger, faster, smarter, better ball handlers, better shooters, etc...in general. I am not saying Harrison Barnes is not a star, but Iowa would maul that team, McDermott inlcluded. It is not even comparing apples to apples! It is such a stupid comparison I have trouble even comprehending the topic!

Say what you want about Iowa, but you have three Mr. Basketball's in Gatens, Fuller and Tucker. I am sure you have all staters in Cougill, Payne, May, Cole, and most likely a few others on the team. What do you have with Ames.

The fact is, most college teams have the best of the best on any given team, Iowa included. Again, say what you want about Iowa, but they have the best of the best from a few states. You cannot say the same for the Little Cyclones!!!

The more anyone allows this thread to ramble on, the more many of you show me your lack of intelligence about the game of basketball and sports in general!
