Two Pieces of Good News...

Very good news on Coker...

Do not understand in the least why we are recruiting a JUCO QB? Next year Vandy is a SR with Wienke behind him. Ruddock will be a RS freshman. If Vandy is inept or goes down you could go with Ruddock to give him a shot. Why muck up things with a JUCO QB?

I would much rather see them sign more offensive(big) and defensive lineman..... start with trying to dominate the trenches and go with what we have for QB. Trench war-fare is what wins in the B1G and we seem for better or for worse to have QB's identified.

you must not have read OK4P's commentary on what KOK can do with a Juco QB.

If Vandy had gone down midseason or earlier this year, I think Rudock would have played. I don't think Wienke gives you a chance to win at this level.

After next year, Rudock is the only scholarship QB on the roster. That's why you look at getting a QB with two to play three.

I do agree with reasonsing except for targeting a guy to put in between Vandy & Ruddock. Why not get a guy who you can redshirt next year instead? He then can be a viable competitor to Ruddock in case Ruddock's play does not match his hype.

Hypothetically.... here's the mess -> Vandy goes down next year. Then do you go with Ruddock or the JUCO? The JUCO has to be # 3 or Ruddock probably transfers out if the JUCO plays well. Then my point is having a freshman # 3 would be a better alternative (could be red-shirted or emergency QB).

he can red shirt next year, that's the point

Speaking of good news, was it just me, or did Van Sloten play pretty well at right tackle when he had to come in?

First, per Morehouse he is reporting that Coker is expected to return next season.

Source: Coker intends to remain a Hawkeye | TheGazette

So now hopefully we can put that one behind us.

Second, I don't have any link but JUCO QB Cody Sokol is expected to announce either today or tomorrow. He was at the game last night and rumblings are that he is leaning towards Iowa.

Why is this good news? This is bad news because now we are down to just 1 runningback.:D

After last night's game I'm ecstatic that we are going after a JUCO QB. I thought Van Sloten played a nice game. He's a good kid and a great athlete.
