Two-Deeps for Nebraska

What's up with Scheel? Is he hurt or just not very good? For him to have faded into oblivion before really taking off is too bad. He was everyones darling going into the year and he's pretty much done next to nothing (along with most of the WRs... Iowa won't have a 500 yard receiver this year... That seems crazy to me but having watched Iowa this year I believe it..
It's also crazy the lack of TE production this yr. Kittle being hurt as much as he has affects that obviously but the next best we have is a true freshman who's pretty much just a big WR. Fant has some filling out to do yet. I'm glad he's getting reps and he'll be good down the road I'm sure. But it's just too bad he's playing out of necessity not so much due to his being ready to.

EDIT Jinx on the Scheel question..

So honest question here, why would Gair be an either/or? It could be argued that the defense is actually functional since he stepped on the field. Not trying to be a coach basher, but if he's clearly as good if not better than Taylor, why didn't he see the field when Taylor kept missing assignments?

Probably same reason Wadley wasn't named as the starter for most of the season. Kirky no likey change.

Gair/Taylor - co-starters because Kirk ascribes to the no loss of position due to an injury countered by the good play of Gair these past two games. I hope he stays with Gair.

Faith
Rugamba
Gair

as starters back in September

Along with generous helpings of Mitchell and King at WR

And Iowa's record right now is 9-2

KF could've had the season everyone was predicting, but stubbornness did him in . . . again

We didn't even need King or Mitchell at WR. The two games we lost that we had no business losing, NW & NDSU, were the direct result of bad run defense. Had we had the 3 defensive guys you listed first in the lineup for those games, I think it's safe to say that we win both of them. We certainly couldn't have been worse.

Good point. With changes to the offense we are 10-1 right now.:)

I think he's just been passed by Falconer. Scheel still is playing, just not as much.

Speaking of players being passed over. What little I've seen of Akinribade in no way convinces me he should be third ahead of Mitchell. If you use the word injury in your reply I'm gonna run to my safe space and hold my breath till an ambulance comes.

Both of these teams are so deep at every position. Listing two players just isn't enough to show how many great players are gonna be on the field on Friday.
