I asked the question in an earlier post if this was the biggest game in the McCaffrey tenure. I still think it could be as it really displays where we are in the 5th year. Iowa State is a very good team with a very good coach but there is no way a good team lets this happen. Fran's teams just cant shoot and lack the athletic ability to compete. Its likely to be a long year and the reality is we will not be better in Fran's 6th year.
Time will tell but this game could be the beginning of the end

This happens to good teams all the time in basketball. Now if you were to say "it is rare for a REALLY good team to let this happen" then I would agree with you. ISU is good enough to beat good teams by a lot more than 15 on a given night.

Is not every coach hired 'at the beginning of the end' at some point? This whole fire the coach mantra every time something goes wrong is tiresome. Just shut down the whole university while we are at it.

Emotional, tough loss to a team that is just better. Better players and better shooters bottom line. A few of us saw the potential for this coming. My prediction in an earlier thread was a 10-15 point loss due to ISU's ability to knock down the three. This played out how I hoped it would not.

Firing the coach does what for us? What is the next plan and who do you get? I am sure many coaches are going to be lined up knocking down the door to get in. What does the basketball program really have to sell?

As a fan base we let this program slip into an abyss it has never fully recovered from. We are partially to blame and frustrated because we cannot get it back. It is just going to take some time and possibly some luck. Lord knows we will not cheat nor work the margins to make it happen quickly. Fran has to do much with less until he can do enough to get more in terms of players. That's the catch-22. He's been close but not quite.

The fan base let nothing slip. The fan base did what every other fan base does when their team sucks. They quit watching or caring.
