Tulane player, broken neck & tracheotomy on the field

Holy crap.

Give it up for the medical staff at the game. While they probably train for extreme scenarios, I'm sure that's not something they ever thought they'd actually have to do. My hat is off to them for their swift reaction and clear thinking in a critical situation.

That was awful, it is weird how when I played I played with reckless abandon and never worried about a thing, but now that my son is playing junior high football I worry about him hurting his neck, brain, knee, etc.

Scary indeed. After seeing Brandon McCarthy (Oakland A's) get a skull fracture pitching in the MLB as well, you realize how dangerous some of these sports can be. Good luck to the Tulane safety.

People forget that this is a game, played by kids in college. Kids with feelings, and hopes for the future.

I love the game but it is a truly dangerous sport. Seems there are reminders on a weekly basis. Last week there were at least two high schoolers taken off by stretcher here in the state and one was taken by life flight.
