Trying to go to my first road game.

So I want to go to an away game this year for the first time. Since I live in Colorado, I will probably go to the game in Lincoln.

How do I get tickets and when do they go on sale? Is there a waiting list?Where to tailgate in Lincoln? Are they going to be the most expensive tickets for a hawkeye all year?

Any other pointers, tips, or facts would be appreciated.

I'm half hour south of you and going to that game as well. Don't have any answers to those questions but I will be going to it with my good friends (nebby fans) and they will answer them for me. :) Tickets will be rather expensive tho, but it will be worth it. I'm sure there will be some ppl that have some tailgate help for you on here.

check the ticket section of hawkeyesports.com and it should tell you when single game tix go on sale.

Think Iowa/OSU with the BIG title on the line. That will be the going rate for that ticket. If Iowa wins this year, and in subsequent years with any frequency, it will stay that way. Especially if this game ends up being an annual day after T-Giving game.

Tickets for that game will never go "on sale."

Nebraska has sold out ever single home game since 1962. They have a waiting list for season tickets thousands of names long and tickets are willed to family members when someone dies.

Iowa gets a travel allotment of 3,000-4,000 which will be quickly taken by only the very top of I-club contributors/donors.

The only hope is Stub Hub or other ticket broker, and it will cost major $$$$$.

This is why I have decided not to make the trip this year.

While Lincoln is convenient for you, it's probably the toughest ticket of the whole season. You could almost fly to Minneapolis and get a ticket...for the same as a drive and game ticket would cost you in Lincoln.

It's an interesting season for road games... 3 of the 5 are fairly close (Ames, Lincoln, Minneapolis) but none are going to be easy tickets. Minny might be the easiest, but with the game coming earlier (warmer) in the season it's going to be a sellout as well.

That being said, StubHub always has something. But it will cost ya.

The most hyped game last year for Nebraska was vs Texas. I looked at tickets for that game as I live in Lincoln and they were going on average for a MINIMUM of 300.

Being as Iowa is so close and how hyped the game will get with so many more opposing fans trying to go I wouldnt be surprised to see the average tickets price go up quite a bit.

As far as tailgating, I haven't been too impressed with it at the games I've been to. I think the best place for parking location and tailgating would be in a parking area across the street from the Nebraska National Guard Armory east of the stadium.

Also since it will probably be cold, a good place to go is the embassy suites next to the stadium. Lots of TVs to watch the game and several bars serving decently priced beer. Gets crowded though.
