Trouble in Michigan??

How can anybody view that as an acceptable punishment? He gets to redshirt a year and technically will not miss a game he is eligiable for.

I know they are totally different crimes and situations but this is the same punishment Pierre Pierce got after his freshman year. It isnt much of a punishment at all.

You really aren't in the loop on this sort of thing if you think this isn't a punishment.

I would think this is worse than sitting out two games, which in most people's minds probably would be an acceptable punishment in a case like this for a non-violent act. Instead, he can't play in a game for all season and if he messes up worse he might get booted. I mean, if this is what he gets for doing this now, what would he get if did the same thing again? Sit out another season of games and not be able to take a redshirt?

This is a good punishment. By the way, my intent is not to minimize what this player has done in either case. If KF had done this with someone people would be lauding it.

Those are some stiff penalties and I don't know if I would qualify that as good punishment. There is a point where you can go over the line and also lose respect of the players that way as well. There has to be some balance in your approach because if you are too easy then the players won't respect you and if you are too harsh the players won't respect you. He is all right now because he is new but if he continues with these type of punishments I doubt the players will like it.

I would agree with you if we were talking about a freshman or sophomore, but he is a senior. Do you really think a senior wants to practice all year and not play? I don't know if he would have been drafted but next year when he is getting ready for spring ball he could have been getting ready to receive a paycheck.

the guy has a history of making bad decisions. it was his SECOND offense. maybe this will be just the wake up call he needs.

the players need to have respect for themselves and their team before they can give respect to other people.

i can guarantee you if he would have given him a slap on the wrist and stonum did it again and killed himself or someone else, the players wouldn't like that either

I wasn't aware that was his second offense. That changes things. But my statement about coaches not punishing the players too harshly is still true.

Good point. I could see it your way if Michigan was going to contend for a B1G title or National title but he is more than likely going to have to sit out a year when they are battling for 3rd or 4th in their division. He isnt missing much if you ask me.

Polite golf applause for Hoke for at least trying to clean up RR's mess.

But this is his 2nd offense. A serious one at that.

I'd kick him off for good. Let him try the NFL next year on his own.
