Trevin Jirak

This must be the big rumored to have committed.

6'11" and growing, 3 state titles at Valley, Iowa Mr Basketball.

My first question is how did it happen that this guy had committed to UNI? Why hadn't he been more highly recruited with his skill set?

But, whatever, he sounds like an excellent addition.

Jirak helped Valley win three consecutive state titles, spanning from 2023 to 2025. As a senior, Jirak was named 2025 Iowa Mr. Basketball. He averaged 16.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.1 blocks per game while shooting 59.2% from the field. Jirak also showed the ability to stretch the floor as a senior, shooting 38.6% (17-of-44) from deep, which was a marked improvement from the previous two seasons.

Welcome to the Hawkeyes, Travin J...

Jeebus! 6’11” AND 39% from 3??
Payton Sandfort - another one of Frans “shooters” - career avg was under 36%.
Is he a Euro big or a banger? Looks a little meat on the bones to work with.

Good pick up as we need some size. Probably won’t help much next year but still gives us a big man that could develop into a good player
You just kind of have to fry for the UNIs and Drakes of the world. They have just become starter programs and if they find a sleeper they won’t keep him for long

Maybe it’s time to start a 30 or 40 te semi pro league with the current Pay to Play that we have today. And maybe gave another league of college teams with student athletes like the old days? Just a thought

Sounds like a huge sleeper pickup. One thing I'd read on him was he grew late. He was like 6'4 as a sophomore and has since sprouted up. And yeah he might not be done growing maybe he'll end up 7' Hence the guard like skills with handling the ball and shooting. To flip him now is phenomenal. We don't need UNI having a kid like that ;)
