Tressel increases suspension

Very noble of him to disregard - for five games - the best interests all of the players he didn't help break NCAA rules in order to convey a sense of camaraderie with the five that he did.

Bottomline is he lied and should be fired.. Noble would be stepping down.

Tressel had repeatedly told investigators that he knew nothing about the players' violations. His contract stipulates that he must disclose any potential violations or could be fired.

An obvious CYA move. LOL. I wonder exactly what it means to be ''suspended''...does it mean the cannot be in the stadium on gameday? Or at practice? I suspect he will somehow make his wishes known during the game, and have a hand in directing the OSU squad.

Sorry,Jimbo, not buying. Your silence bought you a Big Ten title,a BCS game winner, and a promise from the violators to return to play another year to win another big ten title and BCS game....and this is your peace offering? BS!

This reminds me of when I was in pre-kindergarten and I would sing cuss-word songs on the stationwagon bus that drove kids from my town to kindergarten. The bus driver told me he was going to record me.

One night I told my parent's that Carol "station wagon driver" was going to record me. They immediately wondered why Carol would want to record me so they called him. While they were on the phone I put soap in my mouth and showed my parents that I had soap in my mouth hoping this would deter any physical punishment.

The soap didn't help me out much.

Now THIS made me laugh! :D

It's amazing how these coaches and AD's seem so smart, but can pull stupid crap like this. First it's two games, and after the obvious reaction to how weak that is, they up it to 5 to equal the players. Should have done that from the start, fellas.

I predict the NCAA to actually drop the hammer. They should wipe away last season's wins for knowingly playing ineligible players and he should lose this entire year for lying. If Dez Bryant gets 10 games, the Vest needs to lose a season.

What's the definition of suspension? Out of the stadium on game day? No association with the team for the entire week? If option #1 then still a minor slap on the wrist as he's never been known as a stellar game day coach; if #2 then still probably not sufficient but a penalty with more teeth. Head coaches spend a lot of time as administrators so game day only really not that significant of a penalty.

What they should've done from the start is suspend the five from their bowl game. What they should do now is the right thing and separate thee U from thee sweater vest.

Interesting question on the suspension. Remember Pearl's suspension? It was only for SEC conference games, so he coached in the UConn (non-conference game) in the middle of the suspension.

I always assume it means game day only, but I guess I don't know for sure. It would be interesting to see how the suspension is enforced if it includes time that is not just on game day.

dont hold your breath for anything of substance to happen. If the initial 2 game suspension is a pretty strong signal from the university that they dont care about his infraction. To OSU the only infraction that will ever matter is losing.

and if osu slides enough $$ under the table to the NCAA, we'll not here about any more infractions......

Come on are you kidding me?! You think they are going to fire the sweater vest over this!? They hired him with the pay for play scandal at YSU why would they give to rips about this?! As long as he's winning BCS games and beating Michigan he can stay as long as he wants.

Armed robbery or worse is the only thing that could get Tressel fired.
