Congrats to Logan Lee that's impressive. Much love!!

Telling you all, we are going back to Indy and this time we are going to win it.

Dbu? Check. Olu? Check. Teu? Starting to look that way.
Qbu? That's trending up nicely. Lbu? Yup.
We have some good guys coming in on dl and we have ends that several will probably get looks.
Wadley is getting his chance with the Titans, so you know we can get backs to the next level.
Wr is where we need to get some guys. We need to have a couple emerge.
Because I bet our backs do nicely this year and they might get some looks after their JR year.

Exciting times for Hawkeye faithful.

Love the optimism, but without fail, when the Hawkeye faithful are excited and confident going into a season because “all the pieces are there,” it ends up 6-6 ish. When it’s a year like 2015 where nobody expects anything, the Hawks pull out 9 or 10 games.

Optimism is never rewarded as a Hawkeye fan. I keep my expectations at the historical 6.5 conference win level and I never have crushed dreams, only pleasant surprises once in a while. The side benefit is you never have to eat any crow.

I try to go in thinking the best and adjust on the fly.
If we get to 3 losses my interest does wane a little.
If it tanks, it's a short year for me.
I can't read excuse after excuse articles, and those are the good ones. I can't read the bashing articles, because I can see what is going on and don't need to be told over and over.
I can't watch it as much, because the frustration is bad for my blood pressure.
So I watch until I can't watch anymore on years like that.
Started with the Rose bowl, I never have seen that whole game and have no desire to.
Call me a fair weather fan, but I've got better things to do than watch the Hawks get embarrassed like that.
So yeah I try to adjust accordingly. As of right now we are undefeated and I see no reason why we couldn't be saying that in February.

We got this. We just need to keep the pedal to the metal for 7 months now. Day in a day out.
If they can tear down and rebuild the entire north end zone in that time I think a different kind of team can accomplish their goals as well.

Fair weather fan. Sorry, everyone is already thinking it

What sucks about this coming season is Iowa opens league play with Wisconsin. So if they lose that game their shot at a conference title is basically over before it started.

Of course they could always win that game but I currently see nothing that would convince me that's possible.

This is sad but very true. There is a well documented history of Iowa shitting the bed when they should easily win 8+ games.

Yep. KF had a great 3 year stretch from 2002-04, but since then, it's essentially been a 7-5/8-4 program, with just a couple years where the team has had bigger success (2009, 2015). 9 wins in 2008, 8-4 regular season. Throw in a few seasons at 6-6, and 4-8.

So yeah, I don't expect a 10+ win season, conference title, etc. until it happens.

There's little reason to realistically think that'll happen in any given year, if you go by history.

In short, I don't think Iowa football is "trending" any particular direction these days. Call it stagnation if you want, but I expect more of the same from year to year, and hope for better.

1997 and 2010 come to mind. Goes to show, depth is the issue with Iowa. 1 or 2 injuries and .....you have those years.
