Creston News Advertiser | Tragic end to rewarding week for Iowa football candidate

From the article:

It was a happy day in the Imming family, as Alex would become a Hawkeye athlete along with East basketball teammate Adam Woodbury, the 7-footer recruited by Iowa coach Fran McCaffery.

Tomorrow was going to kick off a fun weekend, with the Immings invited to Iowa City for a campus visit along with many other recruits in advance of Wednesday’s official signing date.

Unfortunately, that’s not happening. Three days after Ferentz’s visit to Sioux City, Alex’s father, 48-year-old Steven Imming, died of a heart attack while working at the local airport as a computer technician for the Federal Aviation Administration.

Sad story. I played a lot of ball against him in Dodge. RIP Steve. My thoughts go out to the family.

Scholarship?

To a QB from SC East who they want to be a walk-on? I'm going to assume none of you who want this kid handed a scholarship are the ones who said or will continue to say "where's the talent" at Iowa.

Again, you can't have it both ways.

Condolences to the family

know the family well. his mother is an outpouring of support for many others in FD who have lost loved ones. the were very excited for steves son. very sad indeed.

she is at many funerals as support (always involved in funeral"receptions" at the church) through Catholic Daughters, (a ministry through local church), has had a large family of her own grow up in Dodge and knows a lot of families. she is a very caring woman who
lost her own husband at an early
age.

All I can say is... What can you say?? My heart breaks for the family. My thoughts and prayers are with them. I wish that would help to take away the heartache they must all be feeling! I will be there as Mr. Imming Swarms out of the tunnel to AC/DC and I will be cheering my A** off.

I just hope he CAN still come. Hard time to lose an income and there are rules as to what the university and others can do with respect to support for football players.

Without a scholly it could be tough.
