tOSU Witchhunt?

what, you mean like Rhabdogate, DJK and the whole team are on drugs and up to 20 to be suspended.... ;)

I'm not making light of a very serious health issue like the Rhabdo episode. Rather making light of all the ridiculous media speculation (just look at the Dennis Dodd articles for starters).

All of this could have been avoided had Tressel just suspended the Tat 5 for a few games in 2010.

There may not be any more new facts that come out of Columbus but what they are going to get hammered the hardest on is Tressel flat out lying to the NCAA and signing a waiver saying he has no knowledge of any NCAA violations.

I personally hope the media keeps digging and finds every lost drop of evidence against those cheating bastards.

OSU is confident they don't get a LOIC charge. The allegations were Tressel specific and by him falling on the sword saying he was the only one at the university that was aware he may have saved OSU. They may get a 1 yr bowl ban and probation but without that LOUC charge those hoping for serious penalties are going to be disappointed....

The evidence and allegations are certainly painful for OSU faithful, but how much of the negative publicity over the last 6 months was accurate?

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles investigation has turned up no evidence of wrong doing. The Associated Press: BMV: No wrongdoing in Ohio State car purchases
Does it matter if its accurate?
This kind of thing happens around the world on a minute by minute basis. Not that its right but it is the politics of life.
Besides the BMV isn't where wrong doing will be found in the cargate.

This. It sickens me that most likely by Tressel stepping down all the big wigs at OSU are most likely going to get out of this simply because Tressel took the fall for the university knowing damn well that knowledge of this went well beyond the athletic department. But as usual there's always a scapegoat, and unfortunately Tressel will get the blunt of things while OSU pins it all on him.

Kind of makes you wonder why the NCAA would believe Tressel when he tells them he was the only aware of what was happening. After all, he's already admitted he's a liar to them.

Its not about what they believe its about what they can prove. NCAA has no proof that Tressel forwarded anything or told Gene Smith what he knew. That's the key...

Furfred- just an fyi-

All Universities have a system in place per federal law ( post 911) where all emails, electronic communictions of all kinds are saved to special servers. So it would be totally stupid for any University offical EVER to put anything into email or email any document that had such information in it.

Just an FYI I would be shocked if there was an electronic trail. If there was a electronic trail the person would have to be a total idiot.

Tressel already got nailed e-mailing Sarniak about Pryor, that's what started the fire storm.....i'm not sure Tressel was aware of what you posted. I bet he wishes he knew that....lol

So am I to understand that any tOSU student could take their car in for service and get a 350z? According to the dealership owner athletes didn't get any special deals, so I would assume that's the case.

I would really like to know as well. I'm sure they have some real nice loaner car that I would like to test drive for a 3 day vacation. Maybe something in a convertible I can head down to the beach for a few days.
I have got to think that the salesmans boss is really going to be fuming by the time he loans out his top notch cars for everyone.

Remember, OBMV determined that there was nothing illegal in the car purchases. However, it did not investigate posssible NCAA violations. There is a big difference.

There is nothing illegal about car dealers giving sweetheart deals to football players. Dealerships my charge any amount for a vehicle. However, a legal act may be a violation of NCAA regulations. OBMV's determination does not settle the car purchase issues with the NCAA.

Um because the NCAA is a joke when it comes to disciplining cheaters.

The NCAA doesn't have to necessarily prove anything beyond a reasonable doubt. They aren't a court of law. They can make their decision based on reasonable assumptions.
